Lorenz Helmschmied (1450 – 1515) was a German armourer and a member of the Helmschmied family of armourers from Augsburg.

Helmschmied is documented from 1469 and first became court armourer to Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor and later to his son Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor in 1491.[1] He was the father of Kolman Helmschmied and the grandfather of Desiderius Kolman Helmschmied.[1]
