Lorentz Lossius

Lorentz Lossius (1589–1654) was a German mining engineer, the founder and first manager of the Røros Copper Works. He was born in Germany, a son of priest Christopher Lossius. Lossius worked for the Kongsberg Silver Mines in the 1630s, and relocated to the Kvikne Copper Works in 1635. In 1644 he started test production at Rauhammaren in the Røros district, and this is regarded as the establishment of the Røros Copper Works.[1][2]
