"Lonely Is the Night" is a song written and performed by American rock singer and guitarist Billy Squier.[1] It appeared as the first track on Side 2 of his Triple Platinum 1981 album Don't Say No[2] and became an AOR (Album Oriented Rock) radio hit, reaching number 28 on Billboard's Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in 1981.[3]
Squier has performed "Lonely Is the Night" live with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band.[4]
Use in media
This song has been used in both Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s and Guitar Hero 5.
In the film Couples Retreat, this song is used when two of the characters compete with each other in a Guitar Hero battle.
This song is used in the Then and Now recap at the beginning of Supernatural episode 4.02, "Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester".
The song appears on fictional radio station Los Santos Rock Radio in the video game Grand Theft Auto V.
