London Buses route 405 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Redhill and West Croydon station, it is operated by London General and Arriva London.

History

Route 405 was previously part of the London Country South West network, operating from Crawley to West Croydon station. On 21 April 2001 it became a Transport for London route between Redhill and Croydon. Upon being tendered it passed to Connex.

Upon being re-tendered, on 20 August 2003 the route passed to Metrobus. Upon being re-tendered, it was retained by Metrobus with a new contract commencing in August 2008.[1]

In June 2014, route 405 was included in the transfer of Metrobus' London operations to fellow Go-Ahead Group subsidiary London General. However, the vehicles used continue to carry Metrobus branding. Metrobus will commence a further contract on 29 August 2015.[2] Two morning and one afternoon school services are operated by Arriva London.
