Lochrin is a small area in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is in the south-west corner of the city centre, to the west of Tollcross, and south of Fountainbridge.[1] Lochrin contains a wide mixture of retail shops, leisure facilities, other businesses and tenement housing. Major new office and residential developments have replaced some of the older buildings.

The basins at the eastern end of the Union Canal were filled in after the closure of the canal as a commercial enterprise in 1922.[2] The Leamington Lift Bridge was moved from a location just north of the end of the present basin to its current location several hundred metres away at this time.[2]

The modern end of the canal is still at the centre of the area and is referred to as the Lochrin Basin. It is the eastern end of the Forth and Clyde Canal Pathway. The area has undergone major reconstruction and is known as Edinburgh Quay and the Edinburgh Canal Quarter.
