Localis
Localis is a United Kingdom think tank which was founded in 2001.[1]
Localis describes itself as independent think tank dedicated to issues related to local government and localism. Members of the board include Sir Merrick Cockell, Councillor Paul Bettison, Councillor Paul Carter and Sir Edward Lister, Deputy Mayor of London. Former Chief Executives include James Morris, elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Halesowen and Rowley Regis in May 2010.[2]
It publishes papers on a variety of public policy areas, with past publications arguing for greater financial autonomy for local authorities,[3] the creation of a national infrastructure bank[4] and that the Right to Buy should be extended into equity slivers.
