Local ownership import substituting

Local ownership import substituting is a proposed economic policy. Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher famously said "there is no alternative" but to maintain neoliberal economic policies to generate growth, as the socialist economies of the Second World consistently lagged far behind those of the capitalist First World. Common neoliberal economic policies include low tariffs to international trade, loose regulation of the national economy, and a free market system.

But alternatives have been proposed. Local Ownership, Import Substituting[1] includes social as well as economic aspects to creating flourishing; this perspective is often labeled as LOIS, and used in sentences such as “The alternative to TINA is LOIS”!
