Loan Council

The Loan Council is an Australian federal-state body which co-ordinates the financial borrowing arrangements of the Commonwealth of Australia and the States and mainland territories, New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania the Australian Capital Territory, and the Northern Territory. The Council comprises the Treasurer of Australia, acting as the chair and each of the State and Territory Treasurers. The Federal Government has a significant degree of influence over the Council, having two votes and also a casting vote.[1]
