Llanddewi Rhydderch

Llanddewi Rhydderch is a village in Monmouthshire, Wales at grid reference SO351130. It is off the B4233 road, roughly five miles from Abergavenny.

History

The township of Llanddewi Rhydderch grew around the small llan, or monastic cell named after St. David. The churchyard has a very old Yew tree, which may be many centuries old . A new priest Fr John Humphries and his wife Mary arrived in May 2012. There are now more regular services at St Davids church. the congregation is growing both in numbers and diversity. Fr Humphries is in the process of installing basic facilities within the church which includes a water supply and kitchen/toilets. In addition, there are plans to install a peal of redundant bells. There is also a Baptist Chapel on the edge of the village which still holds services every Sunday.
