This is a list of earthquakes in 1924. Only magnitude 6.0 or greater earthquakes appear on the list. Lower magnitude events are included if they have caused death, injury or damage. All dates are listed according to UTC time. Whilst it was still a fairly active year, the death toll in 1924 was substantially lower than in 1923. Indonesia bore the brunt of the deadly quakes. Turkey, Algeria and China also had events which caused many deaths. Seismic activity remained high in Japan, and the Philippines and Russia saw many earthquakes as well.

- A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck Kanagawa Prefecture, Honshu, Japan on January 14 at a depth of 5.0 km.[1] This appears to be an aftershock of the 1923 Great Kanto earthquake from September 1923. 14 deaths were reported and further damage was caused in the area devastated by the previous Septembers event.[2]
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck south of Fiji on January 16 at a depth of 350.0 km.[3]
- A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the western side of the Sea of Okhotsk on January 21 at a depth of 35.0 km.[4]
- , A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck southwest of Guam on January 30 at a depth of 35.0 km.[5]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck just off the east coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia on February 13 at a depth of 35.0 km.[6]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck southeast of Cyprus on February 18 at a depth of 35.0 km.[7]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck south of Africa on February 29 at a depth of 15.0 km.[8]
- A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Chimborazo Province, Ecuador on March 3 at an unknown depth. 40 deaths were reported and some damage was caused.[9]
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck San Jose Province, Costa Rica on March 4 at a depth of 35.0 km.[10]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck the Banda Sea, Indonesia on March 5 at a depth of 143.4 km.[11]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck off the coast of northern Peru on March 11 at a depth of 35.0 km.[12]
- A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck the Gulf of Patience, Sakhalin, Russia on March 15 at a depth of 35.0 km.[13]
- A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck Batna Province, Algeria on March 16 at an unknown depth. At least 101 people were killed.[14]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck west of Vancouver Island, Canada on March 30 at a depth of 35.0 km.[15]

- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck the Izu Islands, Japan on April 3 at a depth of 350.0 km.[16]
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the eastern part of Kalimantan, Indonesia on April 13 at a depth of 35.0 km.[17]
- A magnitude 8.2 earthquake struck Davao Gulf, Mindanao, Philippines on April 14 at a depth of 35.0 km.[18] Many homes were destroyed in the area.[19]
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck off the coast of Yemen on April 20 at a depth of 35.0 km.[20]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck the Bonin Islands, Japan on April 25 at a depth of 35.0 km.[21]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck the Kermadec Islands, New Zealand on April 30 at a depth of 35.0 km.[22]
- A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Fiji on May 4 at a depth of 561.9 km.[23]
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck west of Luzon, Philippines on May 6 at a depth of 35.0 km.[24] A tsunami was generated which caused some minor damage.[25]
- A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Agri Province, Turkey on May 13 at an unknown depth. 50 people were killed and many homes were destroyed.[26]
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Fiji on May 25 at a depth of 550.0 km.[27]
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the southwest Sea of Okhotsk on May 28 at a depth of 431.8 km.[28]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck western Java, Indonesia on June 22 at a depth of 100.0 km.[29]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the west coast of Colombia on June 22 at a depth of 60.0 km. This came about 6 hours after the Indonesia event.[30]
- A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck the far southwest Pacific Ocean on June 26 at a depth of 15.0 km.[31]
- A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck off the east coast of Iturup, Kuril Islands, Russia on June 30 at a depth of 139.6 km.[32]
July - September
- A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck southern Xinjiang Province, China on July 3 at a depth of 35.0 km.[33] 100 deaths were reported. Landslides occurred and some homes were destroyed.[34]
- , A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck off the west coast of the border area between Panama and Colombia on July 6 at a depth of 35.0 km.[35]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Osh Province, Kyrgyzstan on July 6 at a depth of 35.0 km. This came 6 days before a slightly larger event in the same area. This earthquake also occurred 4 hours after the Panama, Colombia event.[36]
- A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck southern Xinjiang Province, China on July 11 at a depth of 35.0 km.[37] This event struck in the same area as the deadly July 3 earthquake.
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck Osh Province, Kyrgyzstan on July 12 at a depth of 25.0 km.[38]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Guayas Province, Ecuador on July 22 at a depth of 250.0 km.[39]

- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck the Southwest Indian Ridge on August 25 at a depth of 25.0 km.[48]
- A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan on August 25 at a depth of 35.0 km.[49]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan on August 28 at a depth of 35.0 km.[50]
- A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck east of Mindanao, Philippines on August 30 at a depth of 35.0 km.[51] Some homes were destroyed and many landslides occurred.[52]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the Flores Sea, Indonesia on September 10 at a depth of 200.0 km.[53]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck Erzurum Province, Turkey on September 13 at a depth of 35.0 km.[54] 60 deaths were caused as well as the destruction of 380 homes.[55]

- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the Tibet Autonomous Region, China on October 8 at a depth of 35.0 km.[58]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the central Mid-Atlantic Ridge on October 12 at a depth of 35.0 km.[59]
- A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan on October 13 at a depth of 179.4 km.[60]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge on October 14 at a depth of 35.0 km.[61]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck off the west coast of Colombia on October 18 at a depth of 15.0 km.[62]
- An earthquake struck central Java, Indonesia on November 12. The magnitude and depth were unknown. 60 lives were lost and landslides occurred.[63]
- A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck the northern tip of Hokkaido, Japan on November 25 at a depth of 300.0 km.[64]
- An earthquake struck central Java, Indonesia on December 2. Like the one on November 12 the magnitude and depth were unknown. This event however was far more devastating with 727 deaths and major damage being caused.[65]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the northern Molucca Sea, Indonesia on December 5 at a depth of 200.0 km.[66]
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the Mid-Indian Ridge on December 11 at a depth of 35.0 km.[67]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Vanuatu on December 15 at a depth of 210.0 km.[68]
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Fiji on December 26 at a depth of 540.0 km.[69]
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Kuril Islands, Russia on December 27 at a depth of 35.0 km.[70]
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Kuril Islands, Russia on December 28 at a depth of 35.0 km.[71] With this coming a day after the previous event it can be considered a doublet earthquake.
