This is a list of earthquakes in 1922. Only magnitude 6.0 or greater earthquakes appear on the list. Lower magnitude events are included if they have caused death, injury or damage. All dates are listed according to UTC time. Extreme activity was noted in South America including one of the largest earthquakes of all time, the 1922 Vallenar earthquake which struck Chile in November. The area from Taiwan northeast through Japan and the Kuril Islands, Russia was also very busy.

January - March
- A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck in the eastern Pacific Ocean far off the coast of Chile on January 6 at a depth of 25.0 km.[1]
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge on January 9 at a depth of 15.0 km.[2]
- A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck Amazonas on January 17 at a depth of 358.5 km.[3]
- A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Western Province on January 19 at an unknown depth. A few homes were destroyed in the area.[4]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan on January 22 at a depth of 35.0 km.[5]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck off the coast of northern California on January 26 at a depth of 35.0km. [6] This seems to be a foreshock to the event on January 31.
- A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck off the coast of northern California on January 31 at a depth of 15.0 km.[7]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck the Mid-Indian Ridge on February 14 at a depth of 35.0km. [8]
- A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Matagalpa Department, Nicaragua on February 16 at an unknown depth. Major damage was reported in the region.[9]
- A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck east of Cebu, Philippines on February 27 at an unknown depth. 5 deaths were reported and some damage occurred in the area.[10]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck south of Negros (island), Philippines on March 1 at an unknown depth. Some homes were damaged.[11]
- A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Kamchatka Krai, Russia on March 4 at a depth of 241.4 km.[12]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck near Parkfield, California on March 10 at a depth of 35.0km. [13] [14]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck south of Fiji on March 10 at a depth of 570.0 km.[15] This event came within 5 and a half hours of the California event.
- A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Potosi Department, Bolivia near to the border with Chile on March 28 at a depth of 136.4 km.[16]
April - June
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the Greenland Sea on April 8 at a depth of 35.0km. [17]
- A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the Uraga Channel, Honshu, Japan on April 26 at a depth of 35.0 km.[18]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck the far western Atlantic Ocean to the east of the Windward Islands on May 11 at a depth of 35.0km. [19]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan on May 15 at a depth of 35.0 km.[20]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck east of Mindanao, Philippines on June 2 at a depth of 35.0 km.[21]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck the southern end of the Gulf of California, Mexico on June 12 at a depth of 15.0 km.[22]

- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck the southern Indian Ocean on July 3 at a depth of 35.0km. [23]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan on July 5 at a depth of 35.0 km.[24]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck Chuquisaca Department, Bolivia on July 10 at a depth of 667.1 km.[25]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck the Volcano Islands, Japan on July 11 at a depth of 35.0 km.[26]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck the Dodecanese Islands, Greece on August 13 at a depth of 35.0 km.[27]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck Amur Oblast, Russia on August 14 at a depth of 15.0 km.[28]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Uvs Province, Mongolia on August 25 at a depth of 35.0km. [29]

- A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck east of Taiwan on September 14 at a depth of 35.0km. [33] This could be considered an aftershock of the event on September 1.

- A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck Arequipa Region, Peru on October 11 at a depth of 160.0km. [34] Many homes were destroyed in the area and damage was sustained to some more. [35]
- A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck east of Taiwan on October 14 at a depth of 35.0km. [36]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck eastern Xinjiang Province, China on October 16 at a depth of 35.0km. [37]
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the Andaman Sea on October 17 at a depth of 35.0km. [38]
- A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck the Kuril Islands, Russia on October 24 at a depth of 35.0km. [39]
- A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Atacama Region, Chile on November 7 at a depth of 25.0km. [40] Seemingly this event was a precursor to the much larger event on November 11.
- A giant magnitude 8.7 earthquake struck Atacama Region, Chile on November 11 a depth of 35.0km. [41] This was the largest earthquake anywhere in the world since January 1906. At least 700 people died in the area and many homes were destroyed. [42]
- A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan on December 6 at a depth of 239.9km. [43]
- A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck off the west coast of Kyushu, Japan on December 7 at a depth of 5.0km. [44]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the west coast of Kyushu, Japan on December 8 at a depth of 5.0km. This was an aftershock of the previous event. [45]
- A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan on December 8 at a depth of 35.0km. [46]
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake stuck Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan on December 17 at a depth of 210.0km. [47]
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck north of Puerto Rico on December 18 at a depth of 35.0km. [48]
- A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Canterbury Region, South Island, New Zealand on December 25 at an unknown depth. [49]
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Kuril Islands, Russia on December 31 at a depth of 35.0km. [50]
