This is a list of earthquakes in 1919. Only magnitude 6.0 or greater earthquakes appear on the list. Lower magnitude events are included if they have caused death, injury or damage. All dates are listed according to UTC time. Remarkably there were only 100 deaths this year. The southwest Pacific Ocean area saw some very large magnitude events. Clusters of activity were also found in Taiwan, the Philippines and Central America.

Notable events
January - March
A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck east of Mindanao, Philippines on January 1 at a depth of 35.0 km.[1]
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Fiji on January 1 at a depth of 202.7 km.[2] This came just under an hour and a half after the Philippines event.
A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Los Lagos Region, Chile on March 2 at a depth of 15.0 km.[3]
A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Los Lagos Region, Chile on March 2 at a depth of 15.0 km.[4] This came around 8 hours after the earlier event and was possibly triggered by this quake.
A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Burias, Philippines on March 21 at a depth of 50.0 km.[5]
April - June
A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck the Kermadec Islands, New Zealand on April 17 at a depth of 35.0 km.[6]
A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck off the coast of Retalhuleu Department, Guatemala on April 17 at a depth of 25.0 km.[7] This event came around 9 and a half hours after the New Zealand event.
A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck east of Panay, Philippines on April 27 at a depth of 35.0 km.[8] Damage was caused in the area.[9]
A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck directly under San Salvador, El Salvador on April 28 at an unknown depth. At least 100 deaths were caused and there was damage to many homes.[10]
A magnitude 8.2 earthquake struck Tonga on April 30 at a depth of 35.0 km.[11] Some minor damage was caused as well as a tsunami.[12]
A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Njombe Region, Tanzania on May 1 at a depth of 35.0 km.[13]
A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck southeast of Hokkaido, Japan on May 3 at a depth of 35.0 km.[14]
A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck southeast of New Britain, Papua New Guinea on May 6 at a depth of 232.8 km.[15] A few homes were damaged.[16]
A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck north of Taiwan on June 1 at a depth of 35.0 km.[17]
A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Tuscany, Italy on June 29 at a depth of 33.0 km.[18]
A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck off the west coast of Nicaragua on June 29 at a depth of 35.0 km.[19] This came 8 hours after the Italy event.
July - September
A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck Lindi Region, Tanzania on July 8 at a depth of 15.0 km.[20]
A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Tachira, Venezuela on July 11 at a depth of 35.0 km.[21]
A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Chontales Department, Nicaragua on July 22 at a depth of 150.0 km.[22]
A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan on August 3 at a depth of 35.0 km.[23]
A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Fiji on August 18 at a depth of 214.6 km.[24]
A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Ceram Sea, Indonesia on August 29 at a depth of 35.0 km.[25]
A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck north of Malakula, Vanuatu on August 31 at a depth of 35.0 km.[26]
A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck north of the British Virgin Islands on September 6 at a depth of 35.0 km.[27]
October - December
A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck western Rabi Island, Fiji on October 3 at an unknown depth. Some damage was caused in the area.[28]
A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Akita Prefecture, Honshu, Japan on October 11 at a depth of 35.0 km.[29]
A rare magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Limpopo, South Africa on October 31 at a depth of 35.0 km.[30]
A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the Santa Cruz Islands, Solomon Islands on November 20 at a depth of 113.0 km.[31]
An earthquake struck just off the coast of Jayapura, Papua, Indonesia on November 21. The magnitude and depth were unknown. Destruction was caused to a few homes.[32]
A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck east of Taiwan on December 20 at a depth of 35.0 km.[33]
A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Hualien County, Taiwan on December 20 at a depth of 35.0 km.[34] This came just over an hour after the previous event and can be considered a doublet earthquake.
