- A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Tarapaca Region, Chile on April 26 at a depth of 60.0 km.[16]

- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the Sea of Japan on July 6 at a depth of 100.0 km. The epicentre appeared to be closer to the Korean and Russian side.[25]
- A magnitude 8.0 earthquake struck Khövsgöl Province, Mongolia on July 9 at a depth of 0.0 km.[26]

- A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck Sichuan Province, China on November 8 at an unknown depth. 13 people died, a few more were injured and some damage was caused in the province.[40]
- A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the Sithonia peninsula in the Central Macedonia region of Greece on November 8 at a depth of 0.0 km.[41]
