Dragons in film
- the cinematographic dragons are usually based on two stereotypes: the kindly and fantastical animals, often childish, loving and magical (as draco dragon heart, Disney dragons, toothless and his friends HTTYD etc.) and the evil monsters of heroic fantasy (as Smaug from the hobbit, Vermithrax from dragonslayer, etc.).
- The cartoon dragon movie sires, Puff the Magic Dragon (1978), Puff the Magic Dragon in the Land of Living Lies (1980), and Puff the Magic Dragon and the incredible Mr. Nobody, Burgess Meredith plays the voice of Puff.
- Two cartoon dragon movies by Milimetros Feature Animation Company, Dragon Hill. La colina del dragón / Dragon Hill (2002) and El cubo mágico / The Magic Cube / Dragon Hill 2 (2006).[1][2]
- Smaug in the The Hobbit film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson and in the 1977 Rankin/Bass animated version.
- Adelaid and Smite in the movie George and the Dragon
- Bryagh, the red wizard Ommadon's dragon in the classic animation movie The Flight of Dragons.
- Smrgol, the green wizard Carolinus' trusty, old, dragon in The Flight of Dragons.
- Gorbash, the "house dragon" and a main character in the 1982 animation movie The Flight of Dragons.
- Bahamut SIN, from the movie Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.
- Devon and Cornwall (a two-headed dragon), voiced by Eric Idle and Don Rickles in Quest for Camelot

- Bio Dragon, a genetically engineered, 1,000 year old dragon from the 2003 science fiction movie Dragon Fighter

- Three dragons grouped into different regional sub-species are seen in the Harry Potter film series. Dragons depicted include Norbert, the Norwegian Ridgeback in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone; a Hungarian Horntail in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and a Ukrainian Ironbelly in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2.

- Huge numbers of rapidly reproducing dragons (referred to as Fire Dragons by some fans), specifically Wyverns, in Touchstone Pictures Reign of Fire
- Taro in Ray Harryhausen's The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad
- Unnamed two-headed dragon in Lucas' Willow (unofficially dubbed "the Eborsisk" in honor of Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel)

- Nameless evil winged and fire-breathing golden dragon, which is the son of Beowulf, in the 2007 film Beowulf

Dragons in television
- A Housed Dragon in the Creepy Coupe 2 from Wacky Races
- Aithusa, a young dragon hatched by the dragonlord Merlin in Merlin (BBC). He sides with Morgana and is imprisoned with her by Odin, causing him to become deformed.
- Albi The Racist Dragon appears briefly on the Flight of the Conchords first series.
- Cordelia the dragon appeared in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the finale of the spin-off series Angel
- King Allfire, Queen Griddle and the rest from Blazing Dragons
- Prince Aragon and his sister, Princess Dora, from the show Danny Phantom.
- An unnamed 6-legged dragon in Merlin (miniseries).
- In Avatar: The Last Airbender, dragons taught humans the art of Firebending, which is based on the dragons' movements. Some characters, such as Avatar Roku and Sozin, even treated dragons as familiars. Recently the species have been hunted to near-extinction. There are also a breed of fictional animals called Dragonflies, which are literally a hybrid of a dragon and a dragonfly. Furthermore, in the series in a turtle/dragon hybrid called a turtledragon.
- Hyōrinmaru from the manga and anime series Bleach resembles Tōshirō Hitsugaya's zanpakutō, based on a Chinese dragon.
- Cassie, Zak, Wheezie, Ord, Lorca, Quetzal, and countless other dragons in the children's television series Dragon Tales on PBS.
- Beau and various other large reptile-like creatures resembling dinosaurs that are referred to as "Dragons", which are often used for competitive races and other sporting events in Dragon Booster.
- Charizard from the Pokémon (anime) although not a dragon-type is a European Dragon in appearance.
- Chorlton, a happiness dragon, the star character in Chorlton and the Wheelies.
- The Dragons of the Dragon Drive, including Chibisuke, a baby white dragon.
- Dennis, from James the Cat.
- The anime Dragon Century focuses solely on Carmine and a number of dragons.
- Dojo Kanojo Cho, the Oriental Dragon in Xiaolin Showdown.
- Dragon, the blue dragon in Dragon.
- Dragon, from Jane and the Dragon, a children's television series.Fullmetal Alchemist
- Dragon from Magic Mountain, a kids show on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and China Central Television.
- The Dragmas from the cartoon series Godzilla: The Series have a passing resemblance to dragons except they cannot breathe fire (or anything for that matter). Though they have two wings equipped with razor sharp claws, armoured hides, Triceratops-like heads (which are filled with razor sharp teeth) and three legs.
- The Drageen, Pyre and Tyrune from Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog.
- A Dragonous Humongous from the Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears episode Some Day My Prints Will Come, who was the most peaceful dragon in the world. Other dragons were also in the show.

- Dulcy and others in the Sonic the Hedgehog TV series and comics.
- Esmeraude turns into a powerful dragon from Sailor Moon R
- Envy, the homunculus from the anime Fullmetal Alchemist, turns into a dragon when he crosses the gate.
- Faffy, the pet dragon in Dave the Barbarian
- Ernesto Barbarossa a boy in Captain Planet Kid and the Gnomes got turned into a dragon.
- Filia Ul Copt from the anime Slayers is a Ryuzoku.
- Foghorn Draghorn, the dragon rooster medivial episode Ditch in Time in Tiny Toon Adventures
- Gachira from Mahou no Princess Minky Momo
- Gerry the Sneezing Dragon, in Warner Brothers cartoons (Mel Blanc was the voice).
- Gorwen from Through The Dragon's Eye.
- Granymyr in He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
- Hakuryu, Cho Hakkai's dragon in the anime series Gensomaden Saiyuki
- Hiryu, his pet black bomber are bidaron in Bomberman B-Daman Bakugaiden
- H.R. Pufnstuf from the show of the same name
- The Ice Dragon and Ice Dragon Robot from Kirby: Right Back at Ya!.
- The Ice Dragon, in Noggin the Nog.
- Jake Long and his grandfather, Lao Shi, as well as several others in the American Dragon: Jake Long TV series.
- Jozo, a cute dragon pink in Brave Story
- Kagutsuchi, the Child of Mai from My-HiME is obviously a dragon, though physically he resembles an amalgam of animals.
- Kasia and Ryan, the blond head kids who transform into Dragon Boy and Dragon Girl.
- A dragon can be seen briefly in the anime Kamichu.
- Kilgharrah, the Great Dragon imprisoned by Uther Pendragon under Camelot, and released by Merlin in Merlin (2008 TV series).
- Maleficent appears as a dragon in Once Upon a Time (TV series).
- Matches, a small dragon in a Scooby-Doo animated movie called Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School.
- Magellan the dragon from the Nickelodeon children's show Eureeka's Castle.
- Malchior, the dragon in Teen Titans who disguises himself as the wizard Rorek.
- Various Transformers, including Transformers Megatron, in his season 3 beast mode in Beast Wars; Megatron, the great destroyer mentioned in the Covenant of Primus; Megatron/Galvatron from Transformers: Robots in Disguise; Scourge from Transformers Cybertron; and Predaking and other Predacons from Transformers: Prime - Beast Hunters
- Mr. Dragon (voiced by Frank Welker) from the Nick Jr. show Ni Hao, Kai-lan. In some episodes from this show, it is also shown that Rintoo the Tiger likes Chinese dragons.
- Natsu, from Fairy Tail
- Nelly The Dragon, (voiced by Kath Soucie) from Quack Pack episode Leader of the Quack.
- Oliver J. Dragon, from Kukla, Fran and Ollie
- The Pocket Dragons in Pocket Dragon Adventures.
- Various dragons in the Dragon Ball franchise:
- Shenron, the eternal wish granting dragon of Earth.
- Porunga, the eternal wish granting dragon from Namekia
- The Shadow Dragons, a group of dragons born from various wishes made on the Dragonballs. These include Syn Shenron, the one-star dragon and most powerful member of the group who later transforms into Omega Shrenron; the pollution-causing two-star dragon Haze Shenron; Eis Shenron, the ice-wielding three-star dragon; Nuova Shenron, the noble fire-wielding four-star dragon; the slimy five-star dragon Rage Shenron; the female six-star dragon Oceanus Shenron; and digging seven-star dragon Naturon Shenron.

- Rose, Tama, Sapphie, and Maruga, in Dragon Crisis!
- Ryūkotsusei, a dragon demon from InuYasha whose inflicted wounds ultimately killed InuYasha's father.
- Scorch, a 1,300-year-old puppet dragon created and controlled by Ronn Lucas, had his own ALF-esque sitcom briefly on ABC in 1992.
- The Dragon of Domino, creator of all the Magic Dimension and life source of Bloom, from Winx Club.
- Shiron, Ranshiin, and Greedo from Legendz
- The dragon demon Shendu and his son Drago from Jackie Chan Adventures as well as their minions.
- The Green Dragon and the red baby dragon and his mother in Smurfs. Other dragons were in the show.
- The Soup Dragon from Clangers
- Smirkenorf the large green dragon from the UK D&D style show Knightmare, players were required to ride upon his back to the lower levels in exchange for a large gem stone
- Sodom, black dragon in Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru
- Spike, the baby dragon, and other dragons in My Little Pony
- Spot, the pet dragon in The Munsters.
- Stuffy, the stuffed blue dragon in Doc McStuffins.
- Sylphid, blue dragon tsukima in Zero no Tsukaima
- Tabaluga from the cartoon Tabaluga.
- Tama, in Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou
- Tarragon from the stop-motion animation series The Herbs and The Adventures of Parsley
- The Dragon from the game show Tic-Tac-Dough.
- Tornadon is a Dragon-Like Monster from Kirby: Right Back at Ya!.
- Unnamed dragon, from Potatoes and Dragons.
- Unnamed alien dragon, from Ben 10: Alien Force episode Be-Knighted.
- Wip, a small talking dragon in the Xcalibur medieval/magic/fantasy computer-generated imagery series.
- A dragon named Zook in the television show Martin Mystery
- Various dragons from Digimon, including the divinity Azulongmon (itself based on Seiryu) and Cyberdramon.
- Various monsters and zords are based on Dragons from the Power Rangers series. For Zords, these include including Tommy Oliver's Green Dragonzord from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Jason Lee Scott's Red Dragon Thunderzord from the second season of the series and the Mystic Dragon from Power Rangers: Mystic Force. In addition there is also a friendly dragon the Rangers in Mystic Force hatch named Fire Heart, who has the ability to transform into the Red Ranger's battilizer for this season. Also, a great deal of the monsters and villains the Rangers fight are Draconic. These include Titanisaur from Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy, Impus/Olympius from Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue as well as one of his monsters, the Infinitor. There is also the Ruby Dragon from Power Rangers: Dino Thunder, Megahorn and Gekkor from Mystic Force, and others.
- Various dragons from the anime Yu-Gi-Oh, including Seto Kaiba's trademark Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Jonouchi's Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
- Various dragons from the anime Bakugan, including Dan Kuso's Pyrus Dragonoid and Masquerade's Darkus Hydranoid.
- Yurlungur in Zettai Bouei Leviathan
- Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal from Game of Thrones
