Wholly Foreign-owned Banks
- Standard Chartered Bank (Vietnam) Limited locally incorporated in August 2009 and still retains both its branch and local licenses. The bank originally came to Vietnam in 1904 after opening its first full branch in Hanoi. Since then SCB opened an additional branch in October 2010 to mark the 1000 year celebrations in Le Dai Hanh (located just outside of Hanoi). In 2012 SCB now employs just under 700 staff, holds partnerships with Sacom Bank, BIDV and a 15% stake in Asia Commercial Bank.
- ANZ Bank (Vietnam) Ltd., has both a branch of the Melbourne Head office and a 100% foreign owned subsidiary license registered in Hanoi. The bank has 8 branches with 3 in Hanoi and two in Ho Chi Minh City plus another 2 representative offices in Can Tho and Binh Duong respectively. With just under 700 staff, ANZ offers both retail and Corporate Banking products. The bank first established a representative office in 1993 as one of the first foreign owned banks to enter the Vietnamese market, celebrating its 20th year in Vietnam in 2013.
