The following is a list of characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series, Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V.

Main Characters

Yuya Sakaki (榊 遊矢 Sakaki Yūya)
Voiced by: Kenshō Ono,[1] Arisa Shida (young) (Japanese), Michael Liscio Jr. (English)
The main protagonist, a young boy with green and crimson hair who often wears a pair of goggles and a pendulum necklace given to him by his father, Yusho. Inspired by his father, Yuya seeks to become the greatest Entertainment Duelist and bring smiles to everyone with his Action Duels. He manages to awaken the new form of summoning, Pendulum, and aims to master it. He uses a Performapal deck, and his ace monster is Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon. Yuya is fun-loving, energetic, cheerful and loves to entertain people. But this trait makes most people believe that he doesn't takes things seriously because his father was so famous, though this was actually his way to cope with his father's disappearance and protect himself from the mockery he received. Yuya believes that Dueling is for the purpose of making people happy, and he fiercely objects to its use for harm. However, encounter with his dimensional counterparts and learning about the four dimensions as well as the crisis between them start making him doubting his ability to entertain people with duelling. It's also revealed that Yuto's spirit merged into his body after the youth's defeat by Yugo, finding himself adopting the darker aspects of Yuto's personality when he is emotionally overwhelmed or about to use Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon. This state got worsened when Yuya was possessed by a third dark soul that was born from Yuto's hatred that is trying to consume both his and Yuto's soul, changing Yuya to be brutal in dueling to the point he enjoys harming his opponents. After Yuya is aware of the two souls' existence within him, Yuya gains a degree of control over the dark soul's influence by recalling Yuto's words, but he finds it very difficult to entertain people and enjoy dueling. After the invasion from the Academy, Yuya becomes a Lancer to fight against them.
Declan / Reiji Akaba (赤馬 零児 Akaba Reiji)

The head of Leo Corporation, who takes an interest in Yuya's potential. He uses a D/D deck, capable of Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz Summoning, and later develops his own Pendulum Monsters after studying Yuya's actions. He seeks to go against his father, Reo, to protect the Standard Dimension. He holds the Maiami Championship to determine duelists suitable to join his special group, the Lancers, that he specifically formed in order to fight Reo and the Academy. Declan has a very serious and stoic demeanor he is very calm and collected and quiet. He is also a no-nonsense person and is polite.
Yuzu Hiiragi (柊 柚子 Hiiragi Yuzu)

Yuya's friend and classmate at You Show Duel School. She has dark pink hair which is styled into two pigtails, clipped down by blue, bulbous hair clips. She often carries a paper fan on her person, which she uses on Yuya or Shuzo whenever they do something foolish. She harbour feelings for Yuya and is jealous whenever Mieru makes advances towards him. She possesses a strange bracelet that is somehow linked to Yuya and all of his dimension counterparts, as it glows bright and teleports Yuto elsewhere whenever Yuya comes nearby. After losing a match against Masumi, she starts taking lessons on Fusion Summoning from Sora. She uses a Melodius deck, and her new ace monster is Fantasia Flower Saint Bloom Diva. Yuzu is shown to have an extremely short temper, however this all began to falter after her succeeding encounter with Yuto. She overcomes this, though, and wins over her Fusion Dimension counterpart Selena as an ally. During the Battle Royale, she was targeted by Yuri and was about to be captured, but saved by Yugo's arrival that transported Yuri from the place. However, not long afterwards, she was transported to the Synchro Dimension with Yugo when Yuya arrived.
Gong / Noboru Gongenzaka (権現坂 昇 Gongenzaka Noboru)

Yuya's childhood friend who works at his family dojo, but often comes to help him at You Show Duel School. During childhood, Gong was the one who always defended Yuya from bullying. He uses a Superheavy Samurai deck and later learns Synchro Summoning from Yaiba. After the invasion from the Academy, Gong becomes a Lancer to fight against them.

You Show Duel School

Shuzo Hiiragi (柊 修造 Hīragi Shūzō)

Yuzu's father and You Show Duel School's owner who gets emotional easily and often refers to things as being hot-blooded. He uses a Guts Master Deck.
Tatsuya Yamashiro (山城 タツヤ Yamashiro Tatsuya)

A young boy who joins the You Show Duel School after seeing one of Yuya's duels. He is quite knowledgeable about duels. He is the runner up of Maiami Championship Junior class.
Futoshi Harada (原田 フトシ Harada Futoshi)
Voiced by: Kyōko Chikiri (Japanese), ??? (English)
A tubby young student of You Show Duel School, who often talks about "getting the shivers" (しびれる～ shibireru~). He uses a Sketch Deck.
Ally / Ayu Ayukawa (鮎川 アユ Ayukawa Ayu)

A young girl at You Show Duel School. She uses an Aqua Actress Deck.

Leo Dueling School

Henrietta / Himika Akaba (赤馬 日美香 Akaba Himika)

Declan and Reira's mother and chairwoman of the Leo Corporation.
Reira Akaba (赤馬 零羅 Akaba Reira)
Voiced by: Yui Ishikawa
Declan's younger brother and son of Reo and Himika Akaba. He is a student of Leo Duel School and is also very shy. Like his older brother, he is able to use multiple summoning methods. He defeats Tatsuya and becomes winner of the Maiami Championship Junior class. After the championship is canceled, Reira is chosen to become a Lancer.
Silvio / Shingo Sawatari (沢渡 シンゴ Sawatari Shingo)

A narcissistic second-year student at Leo Dueling School. He uses various decks, often changing them based on what he believes is the strongest. Despite being defeated by Yuya in the first round, Declan allows him to participate in battle royale to fight against the Obelisk Force. After the invasion from the Academy, Silvio becomes a Lancer to fight against them.
Dipper / Hokuto Shijima (志島 北斗 Shijima Hokuto)

The top student in LDS' Xyz course who dresses like a joker, he uses a Constellar Deck, with his aces being Constellar Pleiades and Constellar Ptolemy M7. Together with Yaiba, he assisted Masumi in her search for Marco's attacker, duelling against Shay once knowing that he was the culprit. They were defeated and Declan had their memories rewritten to make them believe that Shay has been part of LDS all along. He is turned into a card by Selena during the second round of Miami Championship.
Yaiba Todo (刀堂 刃 Tōdō Yaiba)

The top student in LDS' Synchro course. A boy who carries a wooden sword around and is one of Gong's mentors. Together with Dipper, he assisted Masumi in her search for Marco's attacker, duelling against Shay once knowing he was the culprit. They were defeated and Declan had their memories rewritten to make them believe that Shay has been part of LDS all along. He later participated in Miami Championship, but was defeated by Isao Kachidoki in the second round. He uses an X-Saber Deck, with his ace being XX-Saber Gottoms.
Masumi Kotsu (光津 真澄 Kōtsu Masumi)
Voiced by: Arisa Kiyoto
The top student in LDS' Fusion course. She is determined to take down the duelist that hurt her Fusion Course Teacher Marco. Together with Yaiba and Dipper, she challenged Shay to a duel upon knowing that he was the one who attacked her teacher, but they were defeated. Declan then had their memories regarding Shay rewritten to make them believe that he has been part of LDS all along. She later participated in Miami Championship, but lost to Yuzu in the first round. She uses a Gem-Knight Deck, with her aces being Gem-Knight Master Diamond and Gem-Knight Lady Brilliant Diamond.
Yuu Sakuragi (桜樹 ユウ Sakuragi Yū)
Voiced by: Takumi Watanabe
An LDS student who was the previous Junior Youth champion and moved up to the Youth class. He and the rest of the Top 8 Youth duelists are Lancers who were to stop the invading Academia. After the Obelisk Force started to gain the upper hand and sealed away the Youth Lancers into cards, Yuu was next before being saved by Yugo. He runs away in fear after being saved because he couldn't handle the battle.
Halil (ハリル Hariru)
Voiced by: Ayumu Murase
An exchange student from LDS Anatolia branch. He is a character who loves dueling and is excited to be in new environment. He uses a Lamp deck that is mainly focused on Fusion summoning. He and Olga later dueled Yuri only to lose and be sealed inside a card.
Olga (オルガ Oruga)
Voiced by: Yui Ishikawa
An exchange student from LDS Nordic branch. She battled Gong during Battle Royal and later teamed up with Halil when Yuzu who was duelling against the latter landed on her, resulting with a tag duel in which both she and Halil lost. She and Halil later dueled Yuri only to lose and be sealed inside a card.

Other Dimensions

The Resistance

The Resistance (レジスタンス Rejisutansu) is a group based in the Xyz Dimension (エクシーズ次元 Ekushīzu Jigen), a dimension where Duelists use Xyz Monsters, who contend with the Academy. The Xyz Dimension is an homage to Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal. People who belong to this group lived in Heartland City, the main setting of Zexal, until it was attacked by the Academy.

Yuto (ユート Yūto)

The Xyz Dimension's version of Yuya with the power to cause real damage in duels, Yuto uses a Phantom Knight deck with Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon as his ace monster. Like Yuya, despite his serious demeanor, Yuto cares for his friends and he is also merciful to his enemies. Along with Shay, Yuto is on the search for Ruri who is currently captured by Reo. After his defeat at Yugo's hand, Yuto entrusted his Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon to Yuya before disappeared. It would later be revealed that Yuto's soul resides in Yuya's body, and he will merge his soul with Yuya's whenever the latter is overwhelmed by his emotion or when about to use Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon. Since Yuto's soul is residing inside Yuya's, Yuto also shares his memories that allows Yuya to see his memory when Heartland was invaded, which consequently caused Yuya to be overwhelmed by rage and lose control of himself. This also allows Yuto to indirectly takes over Yuya's body. It is through this state it's revealed that Yuto deep down holds a deep vengeful hatred towards the Fusion Dimension and Academy and this hatred gave birth to an unknown dark soul that tried to consume both his and Yuya's soul.
Ruri Kurosaki (黒咲ルリ Kurosaki Ruri)
The Xyz Dimension's version of Yuzu, Ruri is Yuto's friend and Shay's little sister who was kidnapped by Yuri.
Shay / Shun Kurosaki (黒咲隼 Kurosaki Shun)
Voiced by: Yamato Kinjo (Japanese), Matt Shipman (English)[1]
A mysterious duelist who works alongside Yuto to rescue his sister, Ruri. Shay plays a Raidraptor deck and his ace monster is Raidraptor - Rise Falcon. Shay has the power to transform people into cards. He initially targets LDS to try and get to Reo, but soon agrees to team up with Declan. Shay is a battle-hardened duelist who shows nothing but very serious and violent determination in his duels. Despite his callous attitude he can be pragmatic sometimes. In his last duel with Sora, he was hideously injured by him but was rescued by Selena at the last moment. After the invasion from the Academy, Shay becomes a Lancer to fight against them.

The Academy

An organization based in the Fusion Dimension (融合次 Yūgō Jigen), a dimension where Duelists use Fusion Monsters, the Academy (アカデミア Akademia) uses its students as soldiers to invade the Xyz dimension. The Fusion Dimension is an homage to Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. The Academy is inspired by Duel Academy and the students in the Academy wear the same uniform colour as the students in Duel Academy wear.

Reo Akaba (赤馬零王 Akaba Reo)
Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa (Japanese), ??? (English)
Declan and Reira's father and owner of the Leo Corporation. Declan and Shay consider Reo as their enemy, the former says that he is preparing some strong duelists to defeat Reo. Reo ended up in the Fusion Dimension and became the Academy's leader, referred by its members as "Professor". His reason for invading Xyz Dimension is part of his plan to reach his goal of "uniting all dimensions".
Yuri (ユーリ Yūri)
Voiced by: Kensho Ono (Japanese), ??? (English)
The Fusion Dimension's version of Yuya, he is ordered by Reo to capture Yuzu. He arrives in the Standard Dimension and is an acquaintance of Dennis. He is also the one who captured Ruri and Rin for Reo as well.
Selena (セレナ Serena)
Voiced by: Yūna Inamura (Japanese), ??? (English)
The Fusion Dimension's version of Yuzu who is an old acquaintance of Declan when he came to her reality three years ago. She has been locked up inside the Academy castle for most of her life while her comrades fight and wishes to be freed. Therefore, she goes to Standard Dimension to search for the Xyz Duelist who had defeated Sora by defeating every Xyz Duelists that she encounters, believing that if she can defeat the Xyz Duelist, Reo has no choice but to acknowledge her skill. She grew up believing that her Academy comrades invaded Xyz Dimension and displayed their skill honourably against the Xyz Duelists and is skeptical when Yuzu revealed that the Academy Duelists also brought grief to all the people of Xyz Dimension whether they are Duelists or not. To confirm if what Yuzu said was true, she decided to confront Shay for the truth. Witnessing Sora joyfully injuring Shay, Selena defected from the Academy, assisting Shay and the others, becoming a Lancer.
Sora Shiunin (紫雲院 素良 Shiun'in Sora)
Voiced by: Mie Sonozaki (Japanese), ??? (English)[1]
A young boy with a habit for sweets who comes to admire Yuya's dueling style and enrolls at You Show Duel School. He uses a Fluffal deck and specializes in Fusion Summoning. While initially thought to be a kind boy, he soon reveals himself to be a sadistic hunter from the Fusion Dimension who seeks to hunt Xyz users. In his Duel against Yuto, he is forcefully being sent back to the Fusion Dimension when he revealed his true objective, but afterwards he is allowed to return to Standard Dimension along with Obelisk Force under order to retrieve Selena. He confronted Shay during the Maiami championship battle royale for a rematch and got his revenge, but was interrupted by Selena before he could finish off Shay. He defeated Hikage and sealed him into a card and retreats to the Academy after his duel with Yuya ended due to the battle royal ending.
Barrett (バレット Baretto)
Voiced by: Mio Tanaka (Japanese), ??? (English)
A soldier from the Fusion Dimension who accompanies Selena to the Standard Dimension. He was defeated by Declan in a Duel and activated the force return program in his Duel Disk to return to Fusion Dimension and informed the Academy of Selena's whereabouts.
Obelisk Force (オベリスク・フォース Oberisuku Fōsu)
An elite group of high-ranked soldiers working for the Academy, and their rank is based on Obelisk Blue from GX. They use Ancient Gear decks and have the ability to trap defeated duelists inside cards.
Dennis Macfield (デニス・マクフィールド Denisu Makufirudo)
Voiced by: Tetsuya Kakihara
An exchange student from LDS Broadway branch. He is also an admirer of Yusho and he uses an Entermage deck that is mainly focused on Xyz summoning, though during his duel with Selena, it's revealed that he also has a Polymerization card. During Battle Royale, he became Yuya's tag partner against Makoto and Ken from Ryozanpaku Duel School and later dueled against Yuzu. Afterwards, he is challenged by Selena who mistook him as a remnant of Xyz Dimension, prompting Dennis to not using Xyz summon in their duel, which Selena viewed as Dennis looking down on her and led to his defeat. It's later revealed that he is affiliated with the Academy and an acquaintance of Yuri. After the invasion from the Academy, Dennis becomes a Lancer to fight against them, since his true allegiance is not yet known to the other Lancers.

The City

A town based in the Synchro Dimension (シンクロ次元 Shinkuro Jigen), a dimension where Duelists use Duel Runners and Synchro Monsters. The Synchro Dimension is an homage to Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.

Yugo (ユーゴ Yūgo)
Voiced by: Shinpei Takagi (Japanese), ??? (English)
A mysterious Turbo Duelist who is the Synchro Dimension version of Yuya, who gets annoyed when people get his name wrong. His ace monster is Clear Wing Synchro Dragon. He and Yuto once battled at Heartland, but were interrupted by the Resistance's arrival. Since then, he had looked for Yuto and eventually found him at the Standard Dimension and defeats him. Yuto and Shun refers to him as the Pawn of Fusion due to his presumed affiliation with Fusion Dimension. Yugo then returned to Standard Dimension during the Battle Royal Maiami Championship under his Dragon's guidance, where he encountered Yuzu and was warped together with her.
Rin (りん Rin)
The Synchro Dimension's version of Yuzu and a friend of Yugo. Like Ruri, she was also captured by Yuri.
Jack Atlas (ジャック・アトラス Jakku Atorasu)
Voiced by: Takanori Hoshino (Japanese), Ted Lewis (English)
Former Signer of the Crimson Dragon's Wings and one of the main characters of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. He and Crow are set to make a reappearance in ARC-V.
Crow Hogan (クロウ・ホーガン Kurō Hōgan)
Voiced by: Shintarō Asanuma (Japanese), Tom Wayland (English)
Former Signer of the Crimson Dragon's Tail and one of the main characters of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. He and Jack are set to make a reappearance in ARC-V.
Duel Chasers (デュエルチェイサーズ Dyueru Cheisāzu)
A group composed of officers belonging to Sector Security and were formed in order to stop people from misusing their Duel Runners. They are after Yugo because he refuses to follow laws.

Duelists

Maiami Championship

Michio Mokota (茂古田　未知夫 Mokota Michio)
Voiced by: Yasuaki Takumi (Japanese), ??? (English)
A young chef who specializes in "Cooking Duels" and uses a Cookmate deck, whose strategy is to wait for his opponent to summon a monster(s), only to destroy it by returning the Royal Cookmate monsters he controls to his hand. He is turned into a card during a duel against the Obelisk Force.
Eita Kyuando (九庵堂　栄太 Kyūandō Eita)
Voiced by: Yusuke Katayama (Japanese), ??? (English)
A snarky young duelist who is an expert at quiz shows. His name is a pun on "Q & A". He uses a Quiz Deck, whose main strategy is to force his opponents into answering questions and using effects to ensure they answer incorrectly, thus putting them at a disadvantage.
Mieru Hochun (方中 ミエル Hōchun Mieru)
Voiced by: Aoi Yūki (Japanese), ??? (English)
A young fortune teller who excels in prophecies and seeks out her "fated one". Her name means "reading your fortune". She uses a Sybilla Deck, who works around Flip Summoning and Ritual Summoning, her ace being Tarotray the Sibylla. She develops a crush on Yuya following her first duel with him, much to the dismay of both Yuya and Yuzu.
Gen Anokuji (暗黒寺 ゲン Ankokuji Gen)
Voiced by: Hiroshi Shirokuma (Japanese), ??? (English)
A former student of the Gongenzaka Dojo and an admirer of Strong Ishijima, who would often pick on Yuya.
Isao Kachidoki (勝鬨 勇雄 Kachidoki Isao)
Voiced by: Kenji Nojima (Japanese), ??? (English)
A student from Ryozanpaku school who duels in a violent manner which caused his opponents to be physically harmed. He defeated Yaiba in the first round of Maiami Championship and later he was defeated by Yuya in the second round. He was also last years runner-up of the previous Maiami Championship Junior Youth class.
Ken Umesugi (梅杉 剣 Umesugi Ken)
Voiced by: Yūki Hayashi (Japanese), ??? (English)
A student from Ryozanpaku school, like Isao, who also duels in a violent manner which caused his opponents to be physically harmed. He and Makoto teamed up in the battle royal to take out Yuya for defeating Isao, but they are defeated when Dennis joins duel and helps Yuya. They later run into Yugo mistaking him for Yuya and dueled him only to lose.
Makoto Takeda (竹田 真 Takeda Makoto)

A student from Ryozanpaku school, like Isao, who also duels in a violent manner which caused his opponents to be physically harmed. He and Ken teamed up in the battle royal to take out Yuya for defeating Isao, but they are defeated when Dennis joins duel and helps Yuya. They later run into Yugo mistaking him for Yuya and dueled him only to lose.
Teppei Tairyobata (大漁旗 鉄平 Tairyōbata Teppei)

A Fishing Duelist that qualified to the Final 16 and teamed with Michio during the battle royal so he can get all the Pendulum cards and go to the Top 8. He is turned into a card during a duel against the Obelisk Force.
Hikage (日影 Hikage)
Voiced by: Manabu Sakamaki (Japanese), ??? (English)
A duelist from the Fuuma Duel School and one of the Final 16 of battle royal. During the invasion from the Academy, he and Tsukikage rescue Yuzu and Selena while the Youth Lancers battle the Obelisk Force. He is sealed into a card after losing to Sora.
Tsukikage (月影 Tsukikage)
Voiced by: Manabu Sakamaki (Japanese), ??? (English)
A duelist from the Fuuma Duel School. He defeated Mieru during tournament and went on to be in the Final 16. During the invasion from the Academy, he and Hikage rescue Yuzu and Selena while the Youth Lancers battle the Obelisk Force. He continues to protect Selena and and an injured Shay from the Obelisk Force and they defeat them with Silvio and Gong's help. After the invasion from the Academy, Tsukikage becomes a Lancer to fight against them.

Other Duelists

Strong Ishijima (ストロング石島 Suturongu Ishijima)

The former champion duelist who originally became champion after Yusho disappeared prior to a duel against him. After being defeated by Yuya he decided to retire as a champion and start over, much to Nico's dismay.

Yuya's mother. She was once a dueling delinquent, but changed when Yusho showed her the importance of fun dueling.

Yuya's father. A well-known Action Duelist, who disappeared three years ago before an important match.
Nico Smiley (ニコ・スマイリー Niko Sumairī)

A weaselly manager who initially worked with the previous champion, Strong Ishijima, before Yuya defeated him. He now helps Yuya find opponents for the Junior Youth Championship. Later he becomes the announcer for the Junior Youth Championship.
