Shirley's mom and dad are about to split up over his new hip lifestyle, so the family devises a plan to get them back together.

When their bus breaks down in a ghost town, it looks like the family will miss Christmas, so a prospector (Dean Jagger) entertains them with a Christmas tale set in the Old West.

A mystery writer challenges the Partridges: if all of them can elude his search for 24 hours, he'll donate $25,000 to charity.
