The Old Course, venue of the most Open Championships.
The following is a list of The Open Championship venues, since the competition's foundation in 1860 to the present day. There have been 14 different courses used for The Open Championship although only 9 are currently used. The Old Course has hosted the most Open Championships, 28 in total, with the last one being held in 2010.
Prestwick Golf Club hosted the first 12 Opens from 1860 to 1872 but it has not hosted an Open since 1925. The newest addition to the list of venues is the Turnberry, which hosted its first Open in 1977.
