A Twenty20 International (T20I) is an international cricket match between two teams that have official One Day International (ODI) status, as determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It is played under the rules of Twenty20 cricket and is the shortest form of the game.[1] The first such match was played on 17 February 2005 between Australia and New Zealand.[2] The Sri Lanka national cricket team played its first T20I match on 15 June 2006, against England as part of Sri Lanka's 2006 England tour, winning the match by 2 runs.[3] Sri Lanka have won 24 of their 41 T20I matches, making them the fifth most successful team of the 17 who have participated in this format.[4]

Sri Lanka recorded the highest team total in T20I cricket, in a group stage match at the inaugural edition of the ICC World Twenty20, having scored 260 runs for 6 wickets against Kenya.[B 1] In reply, Kenya was bowled out for 88 runs, giving Sri Lanka a 172 run victory, the highest winning margin in T20Is.[7][8] In 2009 and 2012, they became runners-up of the second and fourth editions of the ICC World Twenty20.[9][10]

As of July 2012, Mahela Jayawardene is the leading run scorer for Sri Lanka in T20Is, with 1224 runs from 44 innings at an average of 32.21.[11] Among their countrymen, only Jayawardene and Tillakaratne Dilshan have scored T20I centuries for the team.[12] Dilshan has made the most appearances for Sri Lanka in T20Is, playing in 45 of these matches.[13] Ajantha Mendis is Sri Lanka's leading wicket-takers in T20Is, with 55 wickets.[14] Mendis took 6 wickets for 16 runs during Australia's 2011 tour of Sri Lanka, at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, and 6 wickets for 8 runs during 2012 ICC World Twenty20, at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium the only occasions a bowler has taken more than five wickets in this format of the game.[15]

This list comprises all members of the Sri Lanka cricket team who have played at least one T20I match. It is initially arranged in the order in which each player won his first Twenty20 cap. Where more than one player won his first Twenty20 cap in the same match, those players are listed alphabetically by surname.
