List of Onimusha characters

The Onimusha series of action-adventure games developed by Capcom features a selection of fictional characters who are based on historical figures.

The original trilogy focuses on the ambitious warlord Nobunaga Oda who aspires to unify Japan using his demonic army known as Genma. In order to stop him several warriors obtain the power of the oni which allows them to defeat the Genma and absorb their souls. Three Oni warriors are the protagonists from the first Onimusha games and are often allied with other characters who are sometimes playable. Besides the Onimusha trilogy, Capcom released two spinoffs and a sequel titled Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams that features a new hero named Sōki who wishes to destroy the Genma.

Samanosuke Akechi

Samanosuke Akechi (明智 左馬介 Akechi Samanosuke) is a master swordsman with a noble sense of justice. He is introduced as a playable character alongside Kaede in Warlords in his quest to save Princess Yuki from Nobunaga and the Genma. After being granted the power of the Oni, Samanosuke defeats Genmas' god while rescuing Yuki. But fearing the power he possessed, Samanosuke went into hiding for a decade to fully master his Oni power before being found by Kaede during the events of Onimusha Blade Warriors.

In Onimusha 3: Demon Siege, Samanosuke returns to battle Nobunaga Oda and aid the time displaced foreigner warrior Jacques Blanc in stopping Nobunaga's army while a future version of himself, who was about to kill Nobunaga, was sent to present day Paris to fight the Genma assembled there. In the end, returning to his time to finish his battle, Samanosuke defeats Nobunaga permanently by sealing the warlord's soul in his Oni gauntlet. In Dawn of Dreams Samanosuke appears as Tenkai Nankobo (南光坊 天海 Nankōbō Tenkai), a mysterious monk residing at the ruins of the temple on Mt. Hiei while attempting to seal his Oni gauntlet to ensure Nobunaga would not be revealed. But sending the evil being propagated by Hideyoshi, Tenkai sets out to find Soki as his power as the Black Oni could stop the resurrection of Fortinbras. Following Hideyoshi's defeat, Tenkai leave with Ako to seal his gauntlet.

Kaede

Kaede (かえ Kaede) is an expert kunoichi. Kaede originally sent by an Iga ninja clan to assassinate Samanosuke for reasons unknown. Instead, she joins him as his quest to save Princess Yuki from the demons. Following the events of the game, she spends 10 years looking for Samanosuke whom she develops feeling until she finally finds him (as seen in Onimusha Blade Warriors). After the reunion, they return to assist his uncle, Mitsuhide Akechi, in absolute secrecy. Samanosuke and Kaede then travel all over Japan, slaying genma wherever they may find them. Kaede is killed by the genma Gargant shortly before the events of Onimusha 3: Demon Siege.

Princess Yuki

Princess Yuki (雪姫 Yukihime) is the sister of Yoshitatsu of the Saitō clan, the master of Inabayama Castle and Samanosuke's cousin. She became aware of strange events in the castle and sends an SOS to Samanosuke. But before he arrives, she is mysteriously kidnapped.

Yunemaru

Yumemaru (夢丸) is an enigmatic orphan discovered by Samanosuke while looking for Yuki in the castle.

Nobunaga Oda

Voiced by: Akio Ōtsuka (Japanese), Dennis Akayama (Onimusha), Richard Doyle (Onimusha III) (English)

Nobunaga Oda (織田 信長 Oda Nobunaga) is an exceptional warlord who aspires to unify Japan, making a name for himself after his victory against Imagawa at Okehazama. But Nobunaga's victory is short-lived when he is stuck in the throat by an arrow. However, his cruel ambition attracting the attention of the Genma god, Nobunaga was resurrected as a Genma Lord to serve as a general to Fortinbras. After Fortinbras was killed by Samanosuke, Nobunaga becomes the leader of the Genma as he uses them in his campaign to conquer Japan while crush his enemies.

Despite his defeat at the hands of Jubei Yagyu in Samurai's Destiny, Nobunaga later resurfaced in Demon Siege as he attempts to control time and space. But it led to Nobunaga's final defeat at Honnoji Temple with his spirit absorbed into Samanosuke's Oni Gauntlet. In the aftermath of Dawn of Dreams, giving his gauntlet to Soki so he can use the war lord's power to fight Fortinbras, Samanosuke starts a journey with Ako to seal his Gauntlet. Nobunaga also appears in Onimusha Blade Warriors as a playable character.

Hideyoshi Toyotomi

Hideyoshi Toyotomi (豊臣 秀吉 Toyotomi Hideyoshi), originally known as Tokichiro Kinoshita (木下 藤吉郎 Kinoshita Tōkichirō) was one of Nobunaga's high-ranking generals who rise up the ranks. Kinoshita was devoted to Nobunaga and supported him and the Genma in both Warlords and Samurai's Destiny. In the aftermath of Demon Siege, having changed his name, Hideyoshi fulfills Nobunaga's dreams to unite Japan. However, years later within his reign, Hideyoshi begins to ally himself with the Genma once more in what he believed would be making him the vessel of Fortinbras. Hideyoshi is eventually defeated by his son Soki, learning he was nothing more but a pawn to Genma Triunvirate as Ophelia reveals he was never intended to revive their god. Before his death, Hideyoshi apologizes to Soki and begs him to protect his son with Yodo.

Guildenstern

Voiced by: Tamio Ohki (Japanese), Michael Stark (Onimusha), Neil Ross (Onimusha 3) (English)

Guildenstern (ギルデンスタン Girudensutan) is a Genma scientist who creates many of the Genma's arsenal. He is responsible for transporting the Genma to modern France in Onimusha 3. He appears as a boss and is killed by Samanosuke.

Marcellus

Marcellus is a former oni. Marcellus was converted into a genma through Guildenstern's experimentation. This engineered demon, created from materials fetched from the Cave of Treachery, is Guildenstern's pride and joy. He also appears in Onimusha Blade Warriors as a playable character.

Hecuba

Voiced by: Kaho Kohda (Japanese), Mung-Ling Tsui (English)

A mantis-like wasp Genma who assumes the identity of Nui and claims to have been sent to aid Samanosuke, later revealing her true loyalties when she grabs Yumemaru before being defeated by Samanosuke.

Fortinbras

Voiced by: Akio Ohtsuka (Onimusha), Yasunori Masutani (Dawn of Dreams) (Japanese), Tony Daniels (Onimusha), J. Grant Albrecht (Dawn of Dreams) (English)

Fortinbras (フォーティンブラス Fōtinburasu) is the Genma God of Light, a naga-like demon who existed since the Earth came into being and created the both the Genma and humanity, the latter having been intended to serve as a slave race. This causes Fortinbras to engage the Oni known as the God of Darkness in a war that ended with Fortinbras exiled to the netherworld. However, Fortinbras returns and masterminds both the incident at Inabayama Castle and the resurrection of Nobunaga as a Genma through Guildenstern. Fortinbras attempted to rule the world with aid from Nobunaga by giving him the blood of princess Yuki, only to be slain by Samanosuke Akechi when he awakened his Oni powers by accident.

In Dawn of Dreams, Fortinbras's resurrection to his full glory is overseen by the Genma Triumvirate by using Genma Trees to call the Omen Star, which their leader's spirit resides in, to the world. In the final battle, before being killed for good, Fortinbras reveals his form: A European noble in dress and sporting a pocket watch who watched Soki from afar in an incorporeal form.

Jubei Yagyu

Jubei Yagyū (柳生十兵衛 Jubei Yagyū), also known as Sougen Yagyu or Sekishusai, is an ambitious young warrior who is first leader of the Yagyū clan and originator of Shinin style sword combat. All leaders of the Yagyu clan are given a childhood name of Jubei. His father was the late Head of his clan, who was seduced and had a child by a female oni named Takajo (高女). Jubei and his descendants possess the blood and ability of Oni-Clan; as Jubei is Half-Oni. Jubei was modelled after the late Japanese actor Yusaku Matsuda. After a period of solitary training, Jubei returns to Yagyu Village to find that his home has been raided and destroyed by Nobunaga's army. Jubei goes on a quest to obtain the Five Orbs needed to increase his Oni powers and defeat Nobunaga. Although he is victorious, Nobunaga's spirit promises to return.

He also appears in Onimusha Blade Warriors as a playable character. A document in Onimusha 3 reveals he went into hiding after Nobunaga's defeat and is still in contact with his ally Oichi. Although he does not appear in Dawn of Dreams, Jubei is mentioned by his granddaughter Akane. By the Dawn of Dreams, Jubei changed his name to Munetoshi Yagyu and sends Akane to assassinate his corrupt son Munenori Yagyu.

Oichi

Oichi (お市 Oichi) is Nobunaga's sister who assumed the alias of Oyu of Odani (小谷のお邑 Odani no Oyū) to secure her husband's territory by fighting her brother, learning to fence with a circular shield. She meets Jubei in the town of Imasho, later saved by him when in the clutches of Tokichiro, who takes her daughter Yodo as his future concubine.

Across her journey, Oyu falls in love with Jubei whose devotion to his family motivates her to protect her three daughter even though she was not her real mother. Jubei convinces Oyu not to battle Nobunaga due to her relation with him and decides to take her place. Oyu is briefly playable during the game. She also appears in Onimusha Blade Warriors as a playable character. A document from Onimusha 3 reveals she became sick but is still in contact with Jubei.

Ekei Ankokuji

Ankokuji Ekei (安國寺惠瓊 Ankokuji Ekei) a master spearfighter in the Houzouin style, Ekei a monk who loves money, liquor and the company of beautiful women. Before entering monkhood, he was a warlord who lost his wife and daughter when they were burned alive by soldiers who ignited the building they were in, leaving Ekei in despair with one wish: To put an end to war by becoming daimyo (a feudal lord) by any means. Depending on Jubei's relationship with Ekei, Ekei might either remain as an ally to Jubei or betray him. In the latter's case, he is hired by the Oda clan to kill Jubei and dies in combat. He also appears in Onimusha Blade Warriors as a playable character.

Kotaro Fuma

Kotaro Fuma (風魔小太郎 Fūma Kotarō) is a Fuma Ninja who works for the Hojo clan. He confounds his opponent with his agile movement and countless Ninjutsu. His childhood has been stained by the experience of being abandoned by his mother; which has caused him to distrust women. Kotaro wishes to aid Jubei in his quest to defeat Nobunaga but Jubei often criticizes him for his childish activities. When Oyu joins Jubei, Kotaro becomes determined to uncover her true intentions and tries to kill her after learning she is Nobunaga's sister.

However, Oyu saves Kotaro from a Genma and tries to make him understand his mother loved him. When Jubei and Oyu are overpowered by the demon Ginghamphatts, Kotaro sacrifices his life to save Oyu and apologizes to her before his death. Kotaro is briefly playable across the game. He also appears in both Onimusha Tactics and Onimusha Blade Warriors as a playable character.

Magoichi Saiga

Magoichi Saiga (雑賀 孫市 Magoichi Saiga) is the leader of the "Saiga Shu" gun troop in Kii prefecture. Bold, bright and cool-headed, he is good at handling firearms and explosives, and takes a keen interest in books and documents. Across the story, the Oda clan attempts to hire Magoichi to kill Jubei but he refuses the offer. Near the game's end, Magoichi returns to his village to protect it from Nobunaga's forces. He also appears in Onimusha Blade Warriors as a playable character.

Takajo

Voiced by: Atsuko Tanaka

Takajo is Jubei's mother who was murdered by Jujudormah.

Ginghamphatts

Voiced by: Takanobu Hozumi

Ginghamphatts (ギンガムファッツ Gingamufattsu) is a giant, semi-arachnid genma who serves under Genma Lord Oda Nobunaga. During his first battle with Jubei — which he loses — he wields a giant pick axe. He swears revenge on Jubei for the humiliation of being defeated by a mere mortal and faces him again in the forest, this time wielding a giant axe. Jubei defeats him again and they do battle for a third and final time in the demon base tower. Ginghamphatts is vanquished for good in this battle by falling to his death, in which he wields a giant hammer.

Gogandantess

Voiced by: (Japanese), Dee Bradley Baker (Onimusha Blade Warriors) (English)

Gogandantess (ゴーガンダンテス Gōgandantesu) is the self-proclaimed "Greatest Swordsman of all Demons", he boasts this title at every opportunity. He is human in appearance, which is unusual for most Genma in the series, and wields a Jian Sword, along with shuriken. Gogandantess revels in fighting worthy opponents and challenged Jubei to three separate duels to test his strength, defeating, but sparing him, on the first two. Jubei uses an Oni Sacred Flute to disable Gogandantess' magic shield, and emerges triumphant in their final duel to win the 'Respect' Orb. Despite being a demon warrior, Gogandantess still displays values of honour and chivalry, going as far as saving Oyu from certain death. He also appears in Onimusha Blade Warriors as a playable character.

Jujudormah

Voiced by: Yasuko Tani (Onimusha 2) (Japanese), Diandra Lee (Onimusha 2),Nancy Linari (Onimusha Blade Warriors), Colleen O'Shaughnessey (Onimusha Blade Warriors, Juju-Ran) (English)

Jujudormah (ジュジュドーマ Jujudōma) is a Genma serving as a concubine for Lord Nobunaga, she is an old and rather unattractive Genma obsessed with Lord Nobunaga, even when it is obvious the feelings aren't mutual. She was also responsible for the death and murder of Jubei's mother "Takajo". Self-deluded, vain and obsessed with her 'good looks', she is flung into a rage when Jubei tracks her down in her lair and calls her a 'nasty thing', causing her to scream so loudly she shatters the mirror of her vanity desk.

She is armed with a handbag equipped with a curved blade and a parasol that shoots powerful magical blasts. She is in a bit of a rivalry with Ginghamphatts as to who can kill Jubei first. She appears in a later game "Onimusha Blade Warriors", and as her younger, more attractive self as Juju-Ran.

Jacques Blanc

Voiced by: Takayuki Sugo (Japanese), Paul Mercier (English)

Jacques Blanc (ジャック・ブラン Jakku Buran) is another protagonist of Onimusha 3. He is a French secret service agent who lost his friend Philippe (フィリップ) an elite policeman when fighting the Genma. As a result of Guildernstern's experiments Jacques is transported to Japan during the Sengoku period. There, he receives the Magic Power of the Oni. From there, Jacques allies with the past's Samanosuke Akechi to defeat the Genma army led by Nobunaga Oda. He also has an automatic rifle but, due to the lack of ammo in Feudal Japan, its use is limited. Although Jacques is not successful in defeating Nobunaga, he manages to return to his timeline and reunite with his family while Samanosuke takes his place.

Jacque's character was modelled after French actor Jean Reno, who voiced him in the French version, as the Capcom staff wished to appeal to the European fanbase.[1]

Michelle Aubert

Voiced by: Yu Asakawa (Japanese), Jennifer Hale (English)

Michelle Aubert (ミシェル・オベール Misheru Obēru) is a French army officer and Jacque's fiancée. She works with Samanosuke to help save Paris. She is briefly playable twice throughout the game using firearms to battle the Genma.

Ako

Voiced by: Omi Minami (Japanese), Amber Hood (Onimusha III), Tara Strong (Dawn of Dreams) (English)

Ako (阿児) is a small Tengu that assists Samanosuke and Jacques during their adventure. She is able to travel through time to assist both characters, including taking some items with her. When she is around people, they can understand each other's language. Following Nobunaga's defeat, she goes on a quest with Samanosuke to seal his gauntlet, having obtained a human appearance. In Dawn of Dreams she is called Arin (阿倫) and still accompanies Samanosuke.

Henri

Voiced by: Akiko Yajima (Japanese), B. J. Ward (English)

Henri Blanc (アンリ・ブラン, Anri Buran) is Jacques' son, he shows the unique ability of communicating with his father through time-space continuum (without any perceivable medium) in times of dire need. This unique ability which even surprises Ako is instrumental in solving one of the video game's puzzles. Henri has trouble imagining Michelle for a stepmother, though he copes with it.

Mori Ranmaru

Voiced by: Masakazu Suzuki (Japanese), Joshua Keaton (English)

Mori Ranmaru (森 蘭丸 Mori Ranmaru) is one of the loyal servants of Nobunaga. After being defeated by Samanosuke, Ranmaru and he are transported to Modern France, where Guilderstern transforms him into a Genma warrior to defeat Samanosuke. The past's Ranmaru still antagonizes Jacques in the alternate timeline. While the future Ranmaru disappears after Nobunaga's defeat, the one from the past is killed by Jacques.

Mitsuhide Akechi

Voiced by: (Japanese), Paul Eiding (English)

Mitsuhide Akechi (森 蘭丸 Akechi Mitsuhide) is the uncle of Samanosuke who reluctantly pledged allegiance to Nobunaga after his nephew mysteriously vanished to ensure his clan's safety from the Genma. When Kaede finds Samanosuke, Mitsuhide eventually aids his nephew and Jacques during the final battle against Nobunaga. It is assumed that Mitsuhide is later killed by Hideyoshi in retaliation for the treachery.

Tadakatsu Heihachirō Honda

Voiced by: Tesshō Genda (Japanese), Dee Bradley Baker (English)

Tadakatsu Heihachirō Honda (本多平八郎忠勝 Honda Heihachirō Tadakatsu) is a general under Ieyasu Tokugawa who aided Samanosuke many times. Due to his lord serving Nobunaga, Heihachi's loyalty causes him to assist the Genma until he decides join Samanosuke and Jacques' group to protect the humans. He dies while fighting Ranmaru whom Jacques murders to avenge him. Heihachi is also briefly playable in a sidestory in which he protects a village from Genma.

Gargant

Voiced by: Takaya Kuroda (Japanese), Dee Bradley Baker (English)

Gargant (ガルガント Garuganto) is a former Oni warrior that joined the Genma, swearing undying allegiance to Fortinbras. But after the demise of Fortinbras, he had yielded his position as the righthand man under the new Genma Lord, Oda Nobunaga. It is unknown if Gargant formed and mutated into a Genma by joining them.

Vega Donna

Voiced by: Naoko Kouda (Japanese), Vanessa Marshall (English)

Vega Donna (ベガドンナ Begadonna) is a Genma was originally Nobunaga's wife Nōhime (濃姫). Like many of the Oda Clan, she has also taken the form of a genma. She is slain by Jacques.

Sōki

Voiced by: Toshiyuki Kusuda (Japanese), David Beron (English)

Sōki (黒き, "Blue Demon"), born Hideyasu Yuki, is the illegitimate son of Hideyoshi. who possesses the dark power of the Oni, referred as the Black Oni or the God of Darkness. When Hideyasu learned of his father's league with the Genma, he discard his birth name as he sets out to burn the Genma trees and defeat the Genma running rampant across the land. Wielding two swords with such grace, precision and power, Sōki is soon referred to by townsfolk as "Oni of the Ash" (灰燼の蒼鬼 Kaijin no Sōki). Sōki uses a variety of heavy broadswords and katanas. After being defeated by Hideyoshi, Soki undergoes a test in order to become the Onimusha, a warrior who masters the Oni powers. With his new abiities, Soki succeeds in defeating Hideyoshi, but sacrifices his life when slaying the Genma Lord Fortinbras to wipe out the remaining Genma Trees.

Soki appears as a playable character in the crossover fighting game, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, being the only Onimusha character in the entire series to appear in a Capcom crossover fighting game. In his ending, he is accompanied by Arthur from Ghosts'n Goblins and Ghouls'n Ghosts who help him defeat Astaroth and the minion.

Akane Yagyū

Voiced by: Yukana (Japanese), Nika Futterman (English)

Akane Yagyū (柳生 茜 Yagyū Akane) is a young woman with exceptional skills who carries on the name of the famous Yagyū clan, possessing the rare Demon Eye of the Oni trait. Prior to the beginning of the game itself, Akane is assigned the duty of hunting down Munenori Yagyū to restore her clan's honor. Assuming the name of Jubei (十兵衛 Jubei), Akane hears of Soki's deeds and finds him at the Plains Outpost at Suruga to defeat him. But after losing to him, she joins him in his fight against the Genma. Near the end of the game, she is depicted wearing eye patch to cover her Oni Eye.

At one point in the game, Akane is confused as to whether she is romantically interested in Sōki, or he is just her elder brother. Shikomizue swordsticks are her main weapons. Akane Yagyu is the daughter of Yagyū Munetoshi's first son Yagyu Toshikatsu, noted by virtue of her knowledge of Yagyu Seigo-ryu, the style that was incorporated into her brother, Yagyu Toshiyoshi's Owari branch of Yagyu Shinkage-ryu. A scene after the end credits depicts her starting off on another journey as she has heard rumors that "someone is still alive."

Ohatsu

Voiced by: Sanae Kobayashi (Japanese), B. J. Ward (English)

Ohatsu (お初) is the younger sister to Lady Yodo, and Nobunaga's niece. Since the birth of Hideyori to her older sister, Ohatsu has been very troubled by the change she has noticed in the two. Friends since childhood, Ohatsu holds intense feelings for Hideyasu. During the first part of the game, Ohatsu unwillingly follows under Munenori, as he has implanted her with Genma insects. She subsequently joins with Soki, at which point the insects become near fatal.

She is saved by Soki in stage eight after journeying through the Oni mansion. Following this, Ohatsu joins forces with Soki's group to stop Hideyoshi's plans and find Yodo. In the aftermath, Soki dies and Ohatsu starts a family with an unknown man. She is an expert marksman under her mentor, Magoichi Saika of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, able to use variety of firearms as well as explosives and a grapple hook.

Roberto Frois

Voiced by: Wataru Hatano (Japanese), Juan Monsalvez (English)

Roberto Frois (ロベルト・フロイス Roberuto Furoisu) is a Christian missionary born to a Japanese mother and Spanish father. After being betrayed by Luís Fróis, who was possessed by a Genma who tried to use him as an experiment, Roberto is now on a mission of pure revenge. But, in a moment of temporary freedom of Rosencrantz control, Luís Fróis place the Exorcising Beads on Roberto's arms, justifying his primary role as Soki's companion, as this artifact has the power to destroy the Dark Stones.

Roberto's weapon of choice are his enhanced arms and fists, capable of numerous destructive boxing combinations. Roberto's gauntlets are based on the Christian archangels, Raphael, Uriel, Gabriel and Michael, ordered from the weakest gauntlet to the strongest. In a scene before his battle with Rosencrantz, it is revealed that he is in love with Ohatsu.

Minokichi

Voiced by: Sakiko Tamagawa (Japanese), Brianne Siddall (English)

Minokichi (みの吉 Minokichi) is a bagworm-like child who is of the Mino Clan, beings who possess the ability to teleport themselves and others. Minokichi inherited the duty of his father, Minogoro the Gate Keeper, in aiding Oni warriors by teleporting them to the Dark Realm where they train by fighting the Genma imprisoned there while giving insight on the various creatures and places they traverse, and quips about the allies they eventually obtain. Minokichi uses a power given to him at the Akechi tomb in order to transport the party to Kyoto at the end of the game, almost costing his life. Mitsunari Ishida

Mitsunari Ishida (石田 三成 Ishida Mitsunari): Hideyoshi's retainer, who is actually possessed by the Claudius (クローディアス) of the three Genma Triumvirate in was first appeared to be a symbiosis that gradually leads Mitsunari being overwhelmed by the Genma as he and his allies act on their goal to resurrect Fortinbras. Upon being forced out of his host by Sakon, Claudius reveals his true form being a Mukade Genma before slain. While Mitsunari is spirited off by Sakon, Cladius later is resurrected by the Genma energies in Kyoto and is slain for good by Tenkai.

Luis Frois

Voiced by: Masaharu Satō (Japanese), Phil Proctor (English)

Luís Fróis (ルイス・フロイス Ruisu Furoisu) is Roberto's guardian who was possessed by the Genma alchemist ローゼンクランツ (Rosencrantz), one of the three Genma Triumvirate bent on the resurrection of Fortinbras. Fróis made attempts regain control of his body before he and Rosencrantz were consumed in the explosion caused by Cladius's death. Once revived, Rosencrantz assumes his true form, a giant fly demon, before slain by Roberto.

Lady Yodo

Voiced by: Mariya Yooko (Japanese), Kathryn Fiore (Lady Yodo), Danica McKellar (Opheila (English)

Lady Yodo (淀殿 Yodo-dono), Cha-cha being her child-hood name, is the daughter of Oyu who became a royal concubine to Hideyoshi. When the Genma offer their power to him, he allows the Genma to transplant Yodo's soul into the Mother Genma Tree while her corpse is inhabited by Ophelia (オフィーリア), a mantid Genma who is one of the three Genma Triumvirate bent on the resurrection of Fortinbras. Ophelia is eventually destroyed by Yodo when she gains control of her new body but is consumed by a need to absorb others. Luckily, Soki manages to restore Yodo's humanity and she returns to her normal life in the aftermath.

Munemori Yagyu

Voiced by: Keiji Fujiwara (Japanese), Joshua Keaton (English)

Munenori Yagyū (柳生宗矩 Yagyū Munenori) is a deranged member of the Yagyū whose heinous acts in betraying in joining the Genma and killing his kin are the reason Jubei accepts the task to execute her uncle. He goes rogue and leaves the Yagyu village after his father rips his mother's eye out but in reality his mother sacrificed herself by giving him her eye. Despite learning the truth, Munenori admits it no longer of any relevance to him as he desires power. During the final battle, ingesting enough Genma Insects to combine the powers of the Genma with his Oni heritage, Munenori resurrects Fortinbras to assassinate the god and become the new leader of the Genma. But Fortinbras sends Munenori falling to his death.

Danemon Ban

Voiced by: Shōzō Iizuka (Japanese), Dave Fennoy (English)

Danemon Ban (塙 団右衛門 Ban Danemon) is a samurai who battled Soki while transporting Genma Trees to Kyoto on Hideyoshi's order. As Ban ate Genma Insects, Soki killed the samurai as he beyond help.

Shima Sakon

Voiced by: Kenta Miyake

Shima Sakon (島 左近 Shima Sakon) is a retainer of Mitsunari who was made into an enforcer for the Genma after his mind is twisted and brainwashed by Ophelia. Sakon fought Soki and company until he was defeated at the Port of Sakai where Tenkai used purification skills to free him of the Genmas' influence. Sakon later appeared to save Mitsunari from Cladius's possession, taking his master to safety.
