List of Lufia characters

Characters of Lufia are the cast of the Lufia series of role-playing video games developed by Neverland for Nintendo's Super NES, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance systems.

Concept and creation

The character design of the Lufia games share similar styles to other RPG's of their respective eras, incorporating an anime influenced art style, and drawing inspiration from mythology and popular fantasy archetypes. The use of archetypes was particularly evident in the series' first title, Lufia & the Fortress of Doom where each of the four party members was based on a familiar fantasy stock characters (the chosen one, a sorceress, a knight, and an Elven archer, respectively). Later titles saw more detail to characterizations and a wider array of playable heroes. The primary villains of the Lufia series, the Sinistrals seem to have been inspired by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse mentioned in the Book of Revelation. Like the Horsemen they are four immensely powerful entities, each with a different title, whose sole purpose is to bring about the end of the world.

Lufia

The titular character of the Lufia series. In Fortress of Doom, Lufia is the childhood friend of Maxim's descendant (hereon referred to as the Hero). Upon arriving in Alekia at 9–10 years old, Lufia suffers from amnesia and is taken in by Roman, the innkeep of Alekia. Lufia is so happy with the Hero that she has not searched for clues to her years before the amnesia. In battle Lufia acts as the main magician, with more attack spells than Jerin, the game's other mage.

The plot twist to the game is that Lufia is in fact Erim, the Sinistral of Death. She is perhaps the most powerful and important Sinistral, as her existence can "revive" the other three Sinistrals regardless of their destruction. Upon her defeat by the hands of Maxim, Erim resurrected as Lufia at an unknown time. The hows and whys of the vast time gap between Erim's death and Lufia's rebirth are never explained, but it is speculated that since Sinistrals can only be defeated by the destruction of their unique energy patterns, Erim needed to rebuild herself piece by piece, which would explain the resurrection and the amnesia. It is quite possible that Lufia is a separate personality of Erim.

Erim only appears in the Fortress of Doom's prologue. Lufia is a kind, gentle girl who loves Maxim's descendant fiercely. She develops a rivalry with half-elf Jerin over the Hero. Having no memory of being Erim, Lufia throws the "lie" in Daos' face. Soon after, Erim's memories possess and subjugate Lufia's and she temporarily becomes Erim. However, the Hero's voice breaks Erim's hold over Lufia, and she joins in the final battle with Guard Daos, the amalgamation of the three remaining Sinistrals. After the battle, Lufia still possesses Erim's memories, and begs the Hero to destroy her so Erim would never again possess her or revive her brothers. Her dying words were that she was much happier as Lufia than she ever was as Erim.

Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals

Erim appears to Maxim as Iris, a mysterious sorceress that can divine the future. It is upon her suggestion that Maxim seeks out the disaster visiting the world from the red comet and later the Sinistrals. Iris' role is to appear from time to time to offer advice and test Maxim's strength; however, she "disappears" without giving complete instructions and thus never tells the party the full truth.

Late in the game, it is revealed that Iris is actually Erim, and that she began Maxim's quest to decide which race was powerful enough to rule the planet. Iris has a tendency to offer too much help to Maxim. He was slated to die after Gades' first death, yet Iris teleported Maxim to Parcelyte instead. Additionally, when the death of Maxim's son Jeros would cement the foundations of Sinistrals' rule, she betrayed the Sinistral minion Idura by saving Jeros. Finally, when Maxim is trapped on the falling Fortress, Erim appears as Iris and allows access to the Island's Power Stones, which when destroyed alters the Fortress' path and saves Parcelyte. It is suggested that Erim develops her compassion as a side effect of being Iris. In the remake Curse of the Sinistrals she first appears during a fight Maxim has with Gades near the beginning of the game and save Maxim just as Gades was about to kill him. Also unlike the original she does not come and go but in fact travels with the party for most of the game.

The Legend Returns

Erim appears again as Seena. Unlike her previous incarnations, Seena is aware of her life as Erim and seeks her complete destruction so as to ultimately end the Sinistrals' threat against the world. In fact, everything from "meeting" and "choosing" the protagonist Wain (who is in fact a descendant of Maxim) as her ward, to the many trials the party goes through is orchestrated by Seena, in order to strengthen the party to the point where they become powerful enough to destroy her.

The Legendary Heroes

The legendary heroes are the four warriors who first defeated the Sinistrals. Their victory managed to bring peace to the land for nearly a century before the Sinistrals were eventually resurrected.

Maxim

The protagonist of Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals, it is his descendants who are charged with defeating the Sinistrals whenever they resurface. By trade he is a monster hunter in Elcid, where he leads a quiet existence with his best friend and neighbor Tia. However, when a mysterious light lands in a nearby cave, he sets out to investigate. In the cave he meets a mysterious woman, Iris, who informs him that the fate of the earth will rest on his shoulders and that he must travel on a great journey to discover the truth for himself. Believing her words Maxim embarks on a quest to find the source of a recent surge of monsters in the area. He is joined in his travels by Tia and eventually Guy. After seeing the destruction that one of the sinistrals has wrecked upon a small village the group becomes determined to defeat them.

Throughout their journey Maxim develops a good-natured rivalry with Selan, a general from the kingdom of Parcelyte; this gives way to friendship and eventually love. When the party defeats Gades, Maxim narrowly escapes with his life, and the heroes believe the Sinistrals to be no more. In the wake of these events Maxim and Selan are married and have a son, Jeros. The new family enjoys a year of peace in Parcelyte; however, this comes to an abrupt end when a warrior named Idura kidnaps Jeros. Maxim resigns himself to the fact that he must return to his warrior ways, and together, he and Selan rescue their son. They are then visited by Iris, who reveals that destiny intended Maxim to die in his encounter with Gades. If he had done so, peace would have returned to the world; in living to father Jeros, he has thrown off the entire course of fate.

The couple leaves Jeros in the care of Selan's aunt and sets out to find and defeat the remaining Sinistrals. They reunite with Guy and travel to the land of the Elves, where they meet Artea and search for the legendary Dual Blade. Their adventure comes to an end when they reach Doom Island, the Sinistrals' stronghold. The heroes are victorious in battle, but the island begins to crumble. When Selan dies after the battle, Maxim convinces Guy and Artea to escape while he stays behind with his wife.

An incarnation of Daos appears and informs Maxim that his last act will have Doom Island fall on Parcelyte. Wielding the Dual Blade, Maxim uses the last of his energy to ensure that the island falls into the sea. In the last scene, Maxim dies but witnesses peace throughout the world as he drifts away with Selan.

In the Nintendo DS remake of Lufia II, Maxim's death can be prevented. After the events of the game, Iris uses the power of the Dual Blade to return to the beginning of her adventure, although with her memories sealed. A second trip through the adventure awakens her memories of Maxim's friendship and she sacrifices herself to stop Doom Island, saving both Maxim and Selan's life. In this ending, Maxim returns home with Selan, presumably to live out his days in peace. The beginning of the game is also different that the original. In this version Maxim traveled to Soma temple to fight Gades but failed and just before Gades could kill him was saved by Iris.

In game, Maxim is an overall well balanced character with no major weaknesses. He can wield both attack and recovery magic, but the only element he cannot use is fire.

Selan

Selan is the commander of the Parcelyte army, and is known for both her might and cunning. Her fame is so great that children across the continent know her name. She initially joins Maxim and the others when they offer to help her retrieve Parcelyte's national treasure. Afterward she decides to join them on their quest to defeat the Sinistrals, who she believes to be a common threat.

She is independent and at first resents Maxim's leadership; however, she eventually learns to trust and even love him after he risks his own safety to rescue her. According to Iris, Selan is also one of the four warriors fated to battle the Sinistrals.

Selan lost her parents at a young age, and her only family consists of an elderly aunt. When the heroes battle Gades, Maxim nearly loses his life in the process, and he and Selan are married soon afterward. Selan's aunt moves in with them and helps the couple care for their newborn son, Jeros. After a peaceful first year of marriage, Jeros is kidnapped by one of the Sinistral's disciples. Once Jeros is rescued, his parents leave him in the care of Selan's aunt so they can set out to defeat the Sinistrals once and for all.

Despite her military life, Selan is an incredibly kind and compassionate individual. She goes out of her way to watch over Lemmy, a small Parcelyte girl who is often bullied by her peers. Selan ultimately gives her life, along with Maxim, in her quest to defeat the Sinistrals.

In game, Selan is a powerful magic user; she also has a greater physical strength than most magic users.

Much like Maxim, in the DS remake, her death can be prevented on a second play-through.

Guy

Guy is an optimistic warrior from Tanbel who is always up for a duel or a bit of adventure. He places a great deal of worth on a person's physical strength and is immediately impressed by Maxim's fighting spirit. He is a proud womanizer much to the dislike of his girlfriend, Jessy, and fiercely competitive. Early on a brotherly rivalry develops between him and Maxim as to who's stronger, although this is eventually overshadowed by his much greater rivalry with Dekar.

When his sister, Hilda, is kidnapped Maxim and Tia volunteer to help him rescue her, and he subsequently joins them on their adventure out of gratitude. He has a great respect for Maxim, even offering to stay behind and die with him as Doom Island collapses. At Maxim's urging he instead leaves with Artea to spread the news of the Sinistrals defeat.

As a result of his disciplined lifestyle, Guy lives to be well over 100 years old. He is still alive during the events of Lufia & the Fortress of Doom, though he dies after meeting Maxim's descendant and finding out the Sinistrals are back. Following his death he is buried in his garden.

Guy is a physical damage dealer, with high health, but his speed is lower and he can't use magic.

Artea

Artea (also spelled Arty) is the only elf to join Maxim in his adventure. While he appears aloof at times he has a great respect for Maxim and the others, and joins them in spite of the great distrust that exists between most humans and Elves. He senses that something is wrong in the world, and believes that the Sinistrals are part of the problem. When he learns that Maxim and the others are trying to defeat the Sinistrals he enlists their aid to help rescue the Elves' elder, who was taken by the Sinistals.

He is the oldest member of the group, due to the difference between how Elves and humans age. As a result he is the only one of the heroes included in all three games in the main trilogy. In Lufia and the Fortress of Doom, it is revealed that the final confrontation with the Sinistrals left him blind. However, he is able to sense Maxim's bloodline and thus thinks at first that his old friend has returned before realizing that he is instead in the presence of Maxim's descendant. He shares his knowledge of the Sinistrals and Dual Blade with the new heroes and gives Jerin his bow, which was once renowned as the strongest in the world, to aid them in their effort. By the events of The Legend Returns, he is several hundred years old and being cared for by his younger sister Milka.

He often verbally spars with Guy, whose quick temper and pride clash with Arty's more reasoned approach to life, and they serve as a sort of comedic duo in the final stages of the game. In the wake of the battle at Doom Island, it is through Arty's magic that he and Guy are able to escape to safety.

Other playable characters

In Fortress of Doom

Maxim's descendant formed a new group of heroes, along with Lufia, Aguro and Jerin, who set out to defeat the Sinistrals once more.

Maxim's descendant is the main protagonist in Lufia and the Fortress of Doom. He doesn't have any default name; the player names him whatever they want. He has a typical archetype hero personality, with a few anime influences, though unlike most other anime-like characters in video games he's aware of his love interests feelings (Lufia in this case), without either of them confessing their feelings for each other. Both he and Lufia met as children, and throughout the game it is made clear that they are both in love. He also displays some pride in being descended from Maxim.

Maxim's descendant started off as a knight, but his life takes a dramatic turn when an area he is protecting is attacked by Gades. The young hero proves no-match for the Sinistral, but Lufia appearing results in Gades letting him live. Maxim's descendant spends the rest of the game searching for the Dual Blade in hopes of using it to defeat the Sinistrals, meeting Aguro and Jerin along the way. When he eventually finds it, Daos reveals to him that he let him live for the most the of the game to awaken the memories of Erim, who is revealed to be Lufia. Though the hero denied that Lufia could be Erim, he eventually finds that Daos was telling the truth when Lufia awakens as Erim and takes the Dual Blade from him, which Daos breaks. Despite seeing that Lufia was Erim, the hero still went on after her on Doom Island, and the Dual Blade fixed itself when he reached it. After he, Aguro, and Jerin defeat Gades, Amon, and Daos, the four Sinistrals attempt to fuse together, but the Lufia side of Erim awakens, so only Gades, Amon, and Daos fuse, forming Guard Daos. After the combined Sinistrals are killed, Lufia urges the hero to kill her so that the Sinistrals can't revive, but he refuses. Although Doom Island sinks into the ocean again, the hero finds that Lufia survived, but has amnesia. It's unknown what happened to them afterwards, but is implied he stayed with her, saying "We'll create new memories."

Maxim's descendant, in fashion typical with main characters in RPGs, is a well balanced character; his physical attacks are powerful and he can use magic. However, he is the weakest magic user in the group, and only knows healing and support spells.

Lufia, the titular character in the first game, serves a romantic interest to the hero. She clearly has a crush on him, and easily gets jealous when he's around other girls (especially Jerin, whom she frequently argues with). After accompanying the hero on his journey to find the Dual Blade, Lufia discovers in shock that she was actually the Sinistral Erim. Though she tried to maintain her human identity, Erim's personality eventually awakens in her and she takes the Dual Blade from the hero. Lufia reawakens when the heroes confront the Sinistrals for their final fight against Guard Daos. After the battle, the hero refuses to kill her, and Lufia ends up in a small village. Because she lost her memory, the village elder there told her a number of false memories of her life before she met the hero again. It is unknown what happened to Lufia afterwards, but presumably she regained her memories as Lufia and Erim.

Lufia serves as the game's main magic user.

Aguro is a commander in the Lorbenian Army and is the second companion the Hero meets. He is a courageous man who takes interest in the Hero's skill, and joins his party to learn more about the threat the Sinistrals pose. He attempts to persuade the Lorbenian Army to support the Hero, but later deserts the Army when they refuse to take up arms against the Sinistrals, remaining loyal to Maxim's Descendant for the rest of the game. Though he respects and admires the Hero's strength, he often quarrels with Jerin.

Aguro serves as a fighter. His strength is greater than the Hero's, but he cannot learn any magic.

Jerin is a half-elf living in the village of Belgen, a village that has been offering sacrifices to monsters out of fear. When one of Jerin's friend is selected to be the sacrifice, she offers to take her friend's place, but she is rescued by the Hero's party. She joins the group in hopes of repaying the debt. Due to her half-elven nature, Jerin looks much younger than she is, and possesses a rather childish personality. She develops a crush on the Hero, which brings her into conflict with Lufia frequently. She is very frail physically, but she is extremely agile and her elven heritage gives her great skill in archery. Artea, one of Maxim's companions, gives her his bow in hopes she will use it effectively to protect the Hero.

Jerin serves primarily as a magic user, though her magic is weaker than Lufia's. Her physical attacks are more powerful however, and can hurt multiple enemies when she has a bow equipped.

In Rise of the Sinistrals

Tia is Maxim's childhood friend. She has a crush on him, and it is unclear whether Maxim is unaware of her feelings or simply chooses to ignore them. When Maxim sets off on his adventure, Tia begins to worry and soon follows after him, much to his dismay. She eventually leaves Maxim when she realizes that she isn't in love with him as a warrior and permanently left the party.

However, in the Curse of the Sinistrals remake, she remains a playable character with Dekar as her boyfriend.

Tia serves as a magic user.

Dekar is the self-proclaimed strongest man in the world (which he actually is). He is the idol of many children and the object of many women's affection. He develops a rivalry between Guy as they are both determined to prove that they are the strongest warrior alive. Although Dekar is very strong, he's very dumb and often easily falls into traps laid for him, though his sheer brute strength always gets him out.

Dekar is a physical damage dealer with the ability to take large amounts of damage, similar to Guy, but Dekar has higher strength at the cost of lower speed.

Lexis Shaia is a great inventor, even if his creations have a tendency of blowing up from time to time. Maxim and the others meet him while searching for an engine for their ship. His descendants are featured in every game in the series, with the exception of Ruins of Lore. They are the only characters in the series to have specified surnames. In the Remake Maxim and Lexus already knew each other before the game began. He was first seen accompanying Maxim who was travelling to Soma temple to defeat Gades who had declared that he would destroy the word.

In battle, he can use both physical attacks and magic. His weapons often hit all enemies and inflict status effects (including some that you cannot otherwise inflict), while his magic stat is the highest out of all playable characters; however the magic he can learn is somewhat limited. In the remake however he is not a playable character, as Tia remains in the party past the first half of the game.

In The Legend Returns

Wain is a descendant of Maxim. He lives in Patos village where he has honed his skill with a sword by exterminating the monsters that roam the countryside. He longs for adventure and excitement and finds his chance when Seena arrived. Although he has a similar personality to the previous heroes, he is more air-headed, witty and down-to-earth, and often likes to insult the Sinistrals when the occasion appears. Many of the other main characters (especially Seena) regularly call him "stupid" since he often acts in a reckless or foolish way.

Seena is a beautiful young fortune teller who arrives in Wain's town to challenge the riddle of the Death Tower located nearby. A strong-minded yet sensitive girl whose predictions are uncannily accurate, she joins Wain on his journey to rid the world of evil. Later it is revealed she's actually Erim.

Dei is a kind-hearted yet unlucky thief who gives all the money he steals to the poor of his hometown. Loyal to the end, Dei would give up his own life to save that of a friend, but would rather look for treasure than fight.

Aima is a young female monk who constantly trains in order to become a "Master of the Fist." She is currently studying under a master of the Jigen-Ryuu fighting school while defending her town from the Garland Gang bandits. Unfortunately, her master is killed by Gades, which drives her to join Wain on his journey.

Randolph is a vassal of Princess Melfis whose age may have affected his swordsmanship, but never detered his loyalty to his kingdom. In his youth he was known as the "Master of the Twin Swords."

Melphis A Princess who was forced to live in a haunted lighthouse before being rescued by Wain's group. Though she dreams of seeing as much of the outside world as possible, her first priority is the safety of her people.

Mousse is a forest spirit that helps out lost travelers. Though he cannot speak, Mousse can understand human language.

Deckard is pirate with a mysterious past who only attacks the ships of those who deserve it. He is actually Alheim, the missing Prince of the Alstadt Kingdom, and thus the older brother of Princess Melphis. Although he bears a physical resemblance and similar name to Dekar, no relation is ever specified.

Ruby is a gambler from Redwood whose cold poker face hides her sentimental nature.

Yurist is a wanderer and poet from the village of Tanba who lives by his own rules, taking life as it comes.

Isaac Shaia is a descendant of the family of inventors featured throughout the Lufia series.

Milka is a great friend of Artea, she was a small child when Maxim originally defeated the Sinistrals. She originally appeared in Lufia & The Fortress of Doom, living with Artea in Elfrea. Her name was translated as Mirka in The Fortress of Doom.

Egg Dragon The famous wish-granting Egg Dragon from the previous Lufia games returns, but only joins the party after a lengthy sidequest, making him the only optional character in the series.

In Lufia and the Fortress of Doom, the Egg Dragon would grant a wish to the player if they bring him all of the dragon eggs, but it was limited to the list of wishes that already existed in the game. In Lufia Rise of the Sinistrals, he has the same function, but after all of the wishes are granted, the player has the option of fighting him. The Egg Dragon is the strongest enemy in the game, surpassing even the Sinistrals. If the player loses, he will spare their lives. In Lufia the Legend Returns, he can again be fought, and will join the player after he is defeated. Like before, he's very strong, more so then even the game's final boss. When he joins the party, for balancing purposes he's much weaker. After joining he mentions that he had fought Maxim in the past.

In The Ruins of Lore

Eldin is a boy who dreams of being an adventurer and has trained himself to use a sword in order to survive in the harsh world. Until he meets Rami, his life has no real direction, but he is soon thrust into a struggle for the fate of the world. In battle, he mostly relies on his physical strength to vanquish enemies, and his ability to wear heavy armor gives him great defense. Out of battle, his special skill is swinging his sword to cut down tall grass or other impediments.

Torma is Eldin's best friend, a young man with wild blonde hair who has trained his body to be a powerful weapon. Like Eldin, he is not gifted with the use of magic, so he instead utilizes his battle prowess and skill with weapons such as chains and boomerangs. Out of battle, his special skill is using a rope to cross otherwise impassable chasms.

Rami is a childhood friend of Eldin and Torma and an aspiring magician. Her high AP and Intelligence make her a good candidate to learn magic from Masters. Out of combat, she can create a small flame that can be used to light things such as candles.

Bau is a member of a hobbit race who was changed into a dog-like monster and has thus been shunned by the other hobbits because of it. He can't learn any magic or special abilities, yet is a powerful fighter that tends to cause the most damage in your party. Out of battle he can use his hammer to smash objects that block the party's way.

Dekar is a warrior from the past who aids Eldin and his group. Though he has aged since Lufia II, his spirit remains as wild as ever.

The Sinistrals

The Sinistrals are a group of four evil gods from the Lufia series of video games. Their base is the Fortress Of Doom but they usually do battle with the heroes atop the many towers of the world. The Sinistrals are Gades, Amon, Erim, and Daos. Another deity, Arek, appears briefly in Lufia II. Although his true nature is yet unrevealed, Arek seems to be little but an observer, watching from afar as the humans and Sinistrals fight for dominance of the world.

Gades

Gades is the Sinistral of Destruction. He has a tendency to gloat and talk condescendingly about the humans, stating that they are the most inferior race of all. He is the most impatient and destructive of the Sinistrals, always seeking to destroy a town, building, or anything at every chance he gets. Gades, unlike the other Sinistrals, concentrates more on brawn and brute force than magic to fight, and in battles against him he always relies solely on physical attacks. He wields a large sword as a weapon (the first and second also depicted him as carrying a large shield, but lacks this in the later ones). After the first game, he's established as the weakest of the Sinistrals. He's also always the first Sinistral the heroes encounter, and almost always defeats them in their first battle.

Amon

Amon is the Sinistral of Chaos. He has the capability to take control of powerful or highly influential humans and manipulate them into doing his bidding. With this ability he forces people into discord, distrust, stress, or a combination of the three. He can even use his influence on loyal military guards, or entire towns and continents. Amon is confident in his abilities, and takes his job much more seriously than his brother Gades, who tends to play around with the opposition, though he's much more overconfident and lets his enemies get away as opposed to killing them. He wields a golden trident to match his golden armor, though in Lufia: The Legend Returns, he's depicted as wielding a pair blades attached to his arms. In battle, Amon relies much more on magic than physical attacks, using it almost exclusively in the first game. He is known as the Sinistral of Terror in Lufia and the Fortress of Doom, while Daos is known as the Sinistral of Chaos in that title.

Erim

Erim is the Sinistral of Death. In the first game, it is revealed that she was actually Lufia herself, though she suffered from amnesia and was not able to remember any of her past life. Eventually, the other Sinistrals were able to recover her memory, but she later rebelled against her brothers and defeated them along with the hero and his friends at the cost of permanently losing all of her memories and her ability to use magic. In the prequel Lufia 2 Erim assumed the identity of Iris, a mysterious woman who helped Maxim and his friends along the way during their journey. However, these acts of salvation were a ruse to lure the heroes into a trap, not because of wickedness, but in order to fulfill certain prophecies. During the course of such, however, Iris developed feelings for Maxim, though she knew he was in love with Selan. In Lufia III, Erim was actually Seena, one of the main characters and Wain's target of affection. She disguised herself so she could find friends strong enough to kill her, as she could no longer bear the existence of a Sinistral. Erim plays a major role in the story, as she usually appears to have some sort of connection with Wain's lover. As long as Erim lives, the other Sinistrals are able to resurrect themselves. Erim is much stronger than Gades and Amon, and is generally depicted as being close in strength to Daos. She generally relies mostly on magic, with some attacks that can kill instantly. The first game depicted her as wielding a trident, but subsequent ones depicted her wielding a sword and a shield.

Daos

Daos is the Sinistral of Terror. He is the leader, and the most arrogant, having twice tried to destroy the world rather than accept defeat (the first case was all of the Sinistrals joining powers, the second was summoning another evil god named Zalbak). He shrouds his form in a large red-orange robe. Daos is the only Sinistral that never uses a weapon, and relies exclusively on magic (which in the first and third games is a weakness because in those there are spells that reflect magic). He, like Amon, is a master tactician and strives to dominate the humans. Daos enjoys making people fear him, striking when least expected, as in Lufia III when he saves a town from a vicious dragon that the Heroes couldn't defeat, only to kill a soldier who was about to propose to his lover. He's the most intelligent of the Sinistrals, and the only one who learns from his mistakes. In spite of that, he repeatedly underestimates the power that humans have, the main reason for his defeats. He is known as the Sinistral of Chaos in Lufia and the Fortress of Doom, while Amon is known as the Sinistral of Terror in that title.

Guard Daos

Guard Daos is a fusion of Gades, Amon, and Daos joining together, combining all their abilities into one supreme being, though in his first appearance he only used two different attacks, both being ones that looked similar abilities used by Daos and Amon. He appears at the end of Lufia I as the final boss (in which he is by far the most powerful enemy in the game), and near the end of Lufia III, as the first boss of the Tower of Twilight after Gades, Amon, and Daos are revived. It is worth noting that the Sinistral Erim is never included in the mix, though Daos attempted to include her the first time. It is unknown if Erim's inclusion in the fusion would create a different creature.

Arek the Absolute

Seen briefly in the opening of Lufia II, very little is known about Arek, whom Daos refers to as the one who stands above all super beings. When the Dual Blade began to ring, signifying that judgment time for super beings was at hand, it was Arek who instructed the Sinistrals to descend upon Earth and either obtain or destroy the Dual Blade. It is later revealed that both good and evil super beings could have appeared on Earth, but Arek ordered only the evil beings to appear. Arek was mentioned in The Legend Returns, though there he is referred to as Alekdias, a name based on his Japanese name in the series.
