When he encounters the Drive Driver, he secretly becomes the hero Kamen Rider Drive to fight the cause of the strange events in the city, the Roidmudes.

As Kamen Rider Drive, instead of using a motorcycle like previous Kamen Riders, Shinnosuke travels the city with the car Tridoron (トライドロン Toraidoron).[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] Having three modes, Tridoron provides Kamen Rider Drive with Shift Cars (シフトカー Shifuto Kā), as well as the Handle-Ken (ハンドル剣 Handoru-Ken) saber and the Door-Ju (ドア銃 Doa-Jū) pistol that can unleash strong "Full Throttle" attacks when combined with the Shift Cars. Tridoron is also capable to fly upon combined with the Ride Boosters into Booster Tridoron (ブースタートライドロン Būsutā Toraidoron). Drive uses a Shift Car in conjunction with the Drive Driver and the Shift Brace to transform into alternate forms (known as "Types") at his disposal.

She is shown to be very athletic despite her looks and also has the habit of dragging Shinnosuke back to work when she finds him slacking off, often having him in handcuffs when she does so. Kiriko is later revealed to have had a history with Kamen Riders since the Global Freeze event when Proto Drive saved her from Roidmude #010, with Shinnosuke helping her overcome her phobia of the Roidmude when she faces him again in his Paint Roidmude form. When Kiriko learns Chase is Proto Drive, explaining his inability to harm her, she plays a role in helping Chase regain his memories. Kiriko is later revealed to be the daughter of Professor Banno, yet is unaware of their familial ties.

It is revealed, after Shinnosuke transformed in the presence of large number of civilians, that Jun reveals himself is a longtime friend and supporter of Krim, and the man responsible for establishing the Special Investigation Division to serve as the base of operations of Kamen Rider Drive, and his support team within the police force, thus being aware of Shinnosuke's secret identity since the very beginning. Jun is actually a very astute and perceptive police officer, with his goofy, incompetent and trouble-fearing attitude revealed to only be a clever facade. Along with establishing and keeping intact of the Special Investigation Division, his eager pleasing of his superiors has always been a front to dig for information regarding the Global Freeze event from the upper levels of the police force, and quickly leaked Shinnosuke's identity as Kamen Rider Drive soon after the young cop's public transformation to the mass media, judging that doing so would protect Shinnosuke from further schemes of the Roidmudes at this point.

But when he helped his colleague Professor Banno by giving him Core Driviars, would eventually lead to his death by the newly created Roidmudes. But at the last second, after deeming Cyberoid ZZZ an incompatible vessel, Mr. Belt transferred his mind into the Drive Driver. During the Global Freeze, Mr. Belt worked with Proto Zero to fight the Roidmudes before his previous partner's assumed death. Mr. Belt upgraded the Kamen Rider Drive arsenal to its current state by the time Shinnosuke found him, deeming the human a perfect candidate because of his nature to act first without any hesitation and with the proper guidance and advice, would be a major force in future battles. When not in used inside the Tridoron, Mr. Belt sits upon a station-pump like stand inside the Tridoron's Drive Pit, located in the basement of the Kuruma Driver's License Center.

Years before the events of the series, Banno attempted to create an artificial life that can evolve like humanity. Ultimately, after Krim provides him the Core Drivars he was developing, Banno ended up being killed by the first three finalized Roidmudes upon their creation.

Roidmude

The Roidmudes (ロイミュード Roimyūdo) are android beings that wish to usurp humanity as Earth's main species. Originally, the Roidmudes were created by a colleague of Steinbelt named Professor Banno for the purpose to create a lifeform able to evolve like humans and convinced his friend to provide him with prototype Core Driviars to aid in his task. But this resulted with the first three Roidmudes in existence to kill their creator and, counted by Mr. Belt to be at a number 108 during that time, cause the Global Freeze event to take place after going into hiding to build up their numbers in fifteen years' time. The Roimudes are behind the phenomenon officially referred to as Heavy Acceleration (重加速 Jūkasoku), often referred to by the public as "Heaviness" (どんより Don'yori), in which people suddenly feel as if time around them has slowed so much that they can hardly move. The Roidmudes can use devices called Viral Cores (バイラルコア Bairaru Koa) for the purpose of sustaining, empowering, and evolving their existence.

There are three forms of Roidmudes, Minor Roidmude (下級ロイミュード Kakyū Roimyūdo) forms, Advanced Roidmude (上級ロイミュード Jōkyū Roimyūdo) forms, and Giant Roidmude (巨大ロイミュード Kyodai Roimyūdo) forms. The Minor Roidmudes come in three variations: Cobra-Type (コブラ型 Kobura-gata), Spider-Type (スパイダー型 Supaidā-gata), and Bat-Type (バット型 Batto-gata). But each Minor Roidmude is set apart from others of the same type by a unique breastplate holding their numbers, the essence of the Roidmudes called Cores (コア Koa). As long as the Core is not destroyed, a Roidmude can revive with a Viral Core. If these Roidmudes copy the appearances and memories of their targets and gather enough information, they can evolve into Advanced Roidmudes. Unlike Minor Roidmudes, Advanced Roidmudes developed a very distinct personality that reflects their unique appearance, and are also able to produce a Heavy Acceleration that affects large parts of the city. If the Roidmudes use more than one Viral Core at one time, they can change into Giant Roidmudes that resemble their respective Viral Cores. As they are currently operating in the shadows to fulfill an ultimate agenda that requires a certain number of Advanced Roidmudes, any Roidmude deemed a threat to their goal will be tried by Brain and Heart, and if necessary, be dealt with by Chase to be reformatted back into a Minor Roidmude.

After Chase regains his memories as Proto Zero, the Roidmudes gain a new method of evolution from the Neo Viral Cores (ネオバイラルコア Neo Bairaru Koa) that Roidmude #001 developed. Use of a Neo Viral Core allows a Minor Roidmude to fuse onto a human host body to instantly assume an Advanced form through the symbiosis.

As such, he is irritated by the fact that all Advanced Roidmudes are those with brash, disorderly personalities and is in charge of reformatting those that Chase has captured. He sees Kamen Rider Drive as dangerous to their goals. He has the ability to inflict attacks on his target's nervous system. He is able to hack into nearby technology by tapping on his glasses.
