Living former governors

As of May 2015, four former governors were alive, the oldest being Walter Dale Miller (1993–1995, born 1925). The most recent governor to die was Bill Janklow (1979–1987, 1995–2003), on January 12, 2012. The most recent governor to die in office was George S. Mickelson, who was killed in a plane crash on April 19, 1993.
