Paula Barker was the cousin of Archie Brooks. Paula was terminally ill with cancer and Archie's sister April, who had lived with her previously, brought her to Emmerdale to spend the last months of her life with her and Archie.
Paula died on the 7 July 1991 in her room at Markham Cottage with April and Archie at her side.

April Brooks was the sister of Archie Brooks. April arrived in the village in April 1991 with her terminally ill cousin Paula Barker, in order to let Paula spend the last few months of her life with her and Archie.
Paula died on the 7 July the same year, and April was distraught as Paula was the only company she had at her home in Manchester.
April stayed with Archie for a few more weeks and returned to Manchester.

Miss Skipdale Breweries was the owner of the local fish farm. Her real name was never mentioned during her time on the show, although she had a daughter named Louise.

Carol Nelson was played by Philomena McDonagh. She first appeared in 1991 and in 1992 was joined by her sister Lorraine. In 1992, Carol began dating Archie Brooks (Tony Pitts).
Carol left Emmerdale on 25 November 1993 with Lorraine after splitting up with Archie, just over a month before the Emmerdale plane crash in which Archie was killed.
