Beauty & the Beast is an American television drama which premiered on October 11, 2012, on The CW.[1] The series was developed by Sherri Cooper-Landsman and Jennifer Levin, and is very loosely inspired by the 1987 CBS television series of the same name.

The show features Kristin Kreuk as the beautiful Catherine Chandler, who, having watched her mother die and who was later saved from being murdered herself, decides to become a Homicide Detective in New York City. Cat claims she was saved by a mysterious Beast, but no one believed her. When a case leads her to Vincent Keller (Jay Ryan), a former doctor thought to have been killed in action, she finds him well and truly alive, in fear for his life at the hands of Muirfield, the secret government organisation who turned him and many other soldiers into mysterious humanoid Beasts. Catherine vows to keep his appearance a secret, but soon finds herself hunted by the same forces threatening his life. Despite this, the pair fall in love with each other and will do anything to be together.

On April 26, 2013, Beauty & the Beast was renewed for a second season.[2] On May 8, 2014, Beauty & the Beast was renewed for a third season.[3] On February 13, 2015, The CW renewed the series for a fourth season.[4]

As of July 7, 2014, 44 episodes of Beauty & the Beast have aired, concluding the second season.
