Lipovec is a small dispersed settlement in the Šmarje pri Jelšah municipality in eastern Slovenia. It lies in the hills to the south of Šmarje in the northern part of the Kozjansko area. The area is part of the historical Lower Styria region. The municipality is now included in the Savinja statistical region.[2]
