Lindsay Gael Christian Elaine Armaou (born 18 December 1980 in Athens, Greece) is a Greek-Irish singer-songwriter, musician, dancer and actress. She is best known as a member of Irish girl group B*Witched.

Early life

Lindsay Armaou was born on 18 December 1980 in Athens, Greece to a Greek father and an Irish mother. She plays piano and guitar, having learned both before she was thirteen years old. She also wrote music of her own prior to being in B*Witched.

Career

1998–2002: B*Witched

In 1998, Edele Lynch formed the group 'Butterfly Farm' with her twin sister Keavy Lynch and their friend Sinéad O'Carroll. The trio began writing and recording together, but soon realised that there was "someone missing". Upon Keavy's suggestion, they asked Armaou to come for an audition and she played a tape recording of a song she had written. The other girls liked it and Armaou became the fourth member of the band, who later changed their name to B*Witched.

B*Witched enjoyed huge success worldwide, becoming the first girl group in history to have their first four singles all go to number one after their singles "C'est la Vie", "Rollercoaster", "To You I Belong" and "Blame It on the Weatherman" all topped the UK Singles Chart. Their self-titled debut album also topped the UK Albums Chart and peaked at number 9 on the US Billboard Hot 100. B*Witched split up in 2002 after being dropped by their record label Sony Music and having sold over 3 million albums worldwide.

2003–2011: Music hiatus and acting

In 2003 Armaou set up an official website and began working on solo material, but she never released. In May 2007 she joined the band Clayton (formerly known as Callaghan) as singer, but disbanded in the same year. Also in 2007 Armanou announced hiatus from music. From 2008 to 2011, Armaou trained as an actor at The Poor School, an acting school in London's King's Cross. She has played the parts of Portia in Merchant of Venice, Isabelle in Ring Round the Moon, Felicity Rumpers in Habeas Corpus, Anya in The Cherry Orchard and the Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol.

2012–present: Film and return with B*Witched

In April 2012, Lindsay was cast in her first feature film role as Sister Georgina in the British indie crime thriller, Two Days in the Smoke alongside Matt Di Angelo, Stephen Marcus and Alan Ford. The film is due for release in 2013.

On 18 October 2012, it was announced that the original members of B*Witched would reunite for an ITV2 series entitled The Big Reunion along with five other pop groups of their time, including Liberty X, Five and Atomic Kitten. The show would feature each group telling their stories of their times in their respective bands, before rehearsing together ahead of one major comeback performance at the Hammersmith Apollo,[2] though the show has now turned into a series of concerts around the UK and Ireland throughout 2013.

B*Witched had to hold "emotional clear the air" talks before reforming. Lindsay said "Some of the issues we didn't even know were necessarily there until we were faced with this opportunity that we have to work together again, then we were like, 'Oh, OK, in order for us to do this then we have to sort a few things out.' It all just came up. It's been difficult to get to this point. There's been a lot of talking, a lot of talking. But we're here now. It's very surreal being called B*Witched again because it's been 12 years."[3] Another band taking part in The Big Reunion was boy band 911, which meant that Armaou would be reunited with her ex-husband Lee Brennan.[4]

Personal life

She married 911's Lee Brennan in September 2006,[5] before they split up in 2011.[6]
