Linda Fröhlich (born June 23, 1979) is a German professional basketball player in the WNBA.

She is considered the best women’s player in Germany, She plays forward and her game has improved during the past two seasons overseas in Italy and Russia. Linda also played in Turkey and Romania. She wears number 13 on Sacramento Monarchs.

Early life

Linda Fröhlich was born on June 23, 1979 in Pforzheim in Southern Germany.

She is the eldest of five children, three sisters and a brother, Richard Fröhlich. Linda did not start off playing basketball, her mother strongly discouraged it. Only after Linda failed in ballet, judo, did she allow her to begin play basketball.

WNBA

Linda was the first UNLV basketball player to be drafted in the WNBA as the first draft pick of the New York Liberty in 2002, (26th overall). She was waived during training camp with Phoenix Mercury in 2004, the Charlotte Sting in 2005. She signed as a free agent by the Indiana Fever on November 2, 2006 and by the Sacramento Monarchs on May 4, 2007.
