Lincoln Southeast High School is a public secondary-education school located in Lincoln, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Lincoln Public Schools school district.
Lincoln Southeast High School has the highest accreditation from the Nebraska Department of Education. It is a member of, and accredited by, the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. In 1986, Southeast High School was recognized in the U.S. Department of Education's Secondary School Recognition Program as a School of Excellence.[2]
Southeast operates on a traditional eight-period schedule. Its school colors are black, gold, and white and its mascot is the Knights. Advanced Placement courses are offered for sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
Renovations
As part of the recent $250 million School Improvement Bond Issue, renovations were planned for Southeast and are now finished. Renovations included the expansion of the cafeteria, the replacement of the roofing and windows, renovation of the performing arts wing, new classroom additions, new heating and air conditioning systems, and various exterior fixes. The renovations were started in June 2006 and were expected to be finished in mid-2008, but delays moved it back to early 2009.
Extracurricular Activities
Athletics
From the year 1971 up to 2013, Southeast has been nominated for twenty All Sport Championships. From its beginning in 1955, Southeast has won 119 state championships for team sports in various athletic fields. Southeast won the girls' state basketball in 2008, boys' state golf in 2009, and football in 2011.

Non-athletic Programs
Southeast offers many other non-athletic programs, such as drama and speech. Southeast's dance team, the Shirettes, have gone on to win national competitions multiple times since their inception in the 1980s, including 2009. Southeast's cheerleading competition team also won the state title in 2010. Southeast also has a music program that includes two symphonic bands, marching band, and two jazz bands. Southeast has eight choirs that compete in numerous state festivals.
Music
The Lincoln Southeast Jazz program has held at least half of the seats in the annual Nebraska Music Educators Association All-State Jazz Band for each of the previous 10 consecutive years, and has performed at the UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival and the KU Jazz Festival.
The Lincoln Southeast Marching Knights have participated in competitions including the Southwest Iowa Band Jamboree in Clarinda, Iowa where the band has been named best band for the last 6 out of 8 years. The band has also performed at the Blue Springs Marching Invitational (Blue Springs, Missouri), ValleyFest (Des Moines, Iowa), Festival of Bands (Sioux Falls, South Dakota), performing in the finals at each competition. The band has recently traveled to Hawaii, the Fiesta Bowl, and San Diego to march in the Holiday Bowl Parade.
The Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band was unable to attend the Holiday Bowl and the Lincoln Southeast Marching Knights were asked to fill in at the bowl game. They played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team as they took the field on December 30, 2009 and performed during the game.[3]
