Lincoln Northeast High School is a public secondary school located in Lincoln, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Lincoln Public Schools school district. Lincoln Northeast was founded on September 9, 1941 when three rival schools (Bethany, Havelock and Jackson) were combined into one. The school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and has been rated "AA" by the Nebraska Department of Education since 1943. Approximately 70% of the staff hold master's degrees. Lincoln Northeast's 1,600 students operate on a traditional 7-period day schedule. Their school colors are black and white and the mascot is the Rocket (named for a famous local train, the "Rock Island Rocket").
Athletics
Lincoln Northeast is primarily known as a "basketball school", but they have also excelled at football. The boys basketball program is notable for its four-peat state championship teams from 1995 to 1998. The boys basketball program has 12 total state titles, and 7 state runners-up.
