Lin Man-hsu (Chinese: 王 韋文; pinyin: Lín Mànxū; born March 3, 1989) is a Taiwanese swimmer, who specialized in backstroke and individual medley events.[1] At age fifteen, Lin made her official debut, as one of the youngest swimmers, for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, representing Chinese Taipei. On the first day of the competition, Lin swam in the fourth heat of the 400 m individual medley, against seven other competitors, including defending champion Yana Klochkova of Ukraine. She finished the race in last place and twentieth overall, with a time of 4:52.22. She managed to repeat her overall position from the heats in the 200 m individual medley, with a time of 2:18.86. Three days later, Lin competed in the 200 m backstroke, where she placed twenty-fourth in the heats, with a time of 2:17.68.
At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Lin swam in the first heat of the 200 m individual medley event, against five other competitors, including three-time swimmer Sherry Tsai from Hong Kong. She finished the race in fifth place, with a time of 2:23.29, five seconds slower from her previous Olympics. Lin, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as she placed thirty-sixth in the overall rankings.[2]
