Lime, also traditionally known as lime green, lime-green, or bitter lime, is a color that is a shade of green, so named because it is a representation of the color of the citrus fruit called limes. It is the color that is in between the web color chartreuse and yellow on the color wheel.[2]
Lime (traditional lime green)
The first recorded use of lime green as a color name in English was in 1890.[3][2]
Lime (color#BFFF00) is a pure spectral color at approximately 564 nanometers on the visible spectrum when plotted on the CIE chromaticity diagram.

Lemon-Lime is a fluorescent chartreuse color that is named after the carbonated soft drinks such as Sprite, 7 Up and Sierra Mist.
The red value to this neon color is almost to Yellow.

Lime in human culture
- John Lennon chose lime for the color of his Sgt. Pepper uniform.
- The PAIS Alliance, an Ecuadorean democratic socialist political party headed by Rafael Correa, uses a tone of lime green in its party logo, along with a tone of midnight blue.
- In the bandana code of the gay leather subculture, wearing a lime colored bandana means one is into the fetish of sitophilia, otherwise known as food fetishism.[7]
Sports
- The National Rugby League team the Canberra Raiders' main color is lime green.
- Lime Gatorade is a popular sports drink—the color lime is used for its labels and packaging.
Transportation
- The IND Crosstown Line of the New York City Subway is colored lime green.
