Liesl Laurie

Liesl Laurie (born 1991 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a South African beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss South Africa 2015. She will represent her country at the Miss World 2015 and Miss Universe 2015.

Personal life

Laurie lives in Eldorado Park, a mainly colored suburb in Johannesburg. She has a Bachelor of Communications degree and became a social activist in her country.^[1] In June 2014, she launched her own non-profit organization (NGO), named "The Pearl Project". The project aims at inspiring young girls, through motivational and educational workshops. In 2010 she started to compete at pageantry. She placed as the 2nd Princess of Miss Soweto 2010 and awarded as Miss Personality at the pageant. In 2014 she placed as the 2nd Runner-up of Miss Mamelodi Sundowns 2014.

Miss South Africa 2015

On March 29, 2015 Laurie was crowned as Miss South Africa 2015 by reigning titleholder Zipozakhe Zokufa. The Miss South Africa Pageant was held at the Sun City Super Bowl and televised live and simulcast on M-Net and Mzansi Magic. Laurie defeated 11 other finalists during the main event. The current Miss World 2014, Rolene Strauss attended the event, along with two other South Africans to have won Miss World.^[2]

Miss World 2015

As Miss South Africa, Laurie will participate in the Miss World 2015 where she will compete to succeed the current titleholder, Rolene Strauss of South Africa.

Miss Universe 2015

As Miss South Africa, Laurie is expected to compete Miss Universe 2015 as well where she will compete to succeed the current titleholder, Paulina Vega of Colombia.^[3]
