As the route is yet to be fully electrified, a Ghaziabad or Kanpur based WAP 4 locomotive hauls the trains from Anand Vihar Terminal upto Allahabad Junction hanging over to a Samastipur or Jhansi based WDM 3A which then hauls the train for the remainder of its journey.

Accident

In an accident due to dense fog on 2 January 2010, the Lichchavi Express collided with the stationary Magadh Express train at the station near the town of Etawah, about 170 miles (270 kilometers) southwest of Lucknow.[1] Ten people, including the driver of one of the trains, were injured.
