Liberton Hospital

In 1906 Liberton Hospital opened, and the 2 hospitals together were known as the Royal Edinburgh Hospital for Incurables (REHI). In 1948 the hospital was taken over by the Scottish National Health Service.

Liberton Hospital, on Lasswade Road, is still in service, specialising in geriatric medicine. It is now run by NHS Lothian.

It is proposed to demolish the hospital as part of the blueprint to stop bed blocking and revolutionise care in the community.[1]
