Leroy Sané (German pronunciation: [ˈlɛ.ʀɔʏ ˈza.nɛː]; born 11 January 1996) is a German professional footballer who plays as a forward or attacking midfielder for FC Schalke 04.[2]
Club career
On 21 March 2014, Sané signed a 3-year professional contract with Schalke 04 running until 30 June 2017.[3] Sané made his Bundesliga debut on 20 April 2014 against VfB Stuttgart.[4] He replaced Max Meyer after 77 minutes in a 3–1 away defeat.[4] He made his Champions League debut against Real Madrid replacing Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the 29th minute. He would later go on to score Schalke's 3rd goal in the 57th minute to equalize the game at 3–3. He then assisted Klaas Jan Huntelaar for Schalke's 4th goal on the night, Schalke 04 won the match 4–3 but lost a spot in the quarter-finals due to goal aggregate of Real Madrid 5–4 Schalke 04.
Personal life
Sané is the son of former German rhythmic gymnast champion Regina Weber and former Senegalese international Souleyman Sané.[3][5]
