Leon Radzinowicz

Sir Leon Radzinowicz (15 August 1906 – 29 December 1999) FBA was an academic criminologist and the founding director of the Institute of Criminology at the University of Cambridge.[1]

He was born in Łódź, Poland and arrived in Cambridge in the late 1930s. During World War II he established the Department of Criminal Science in the Faculty of Law, and in 1959 he became the first Wolfson Professor of Criminology. He was knighted in 1970.

Died in Haverford, Pennsylvania.[2]

He is buried in the Parish of the Ascension Burial Ground in Cambridge, with his wife Isolde (11 October 1915 - 2 February 2011) according to A Guide to Churchill College, Cambridge: text by Dr. Mark Goldie, pages 62 and 63 (2009).
