Leinster Football Association
The Leinster Football Association is charged with the organisation and administration of soccer in the Irish province of Leinster. The LFA is affiliated with the Football Association of Ireland and is the governing body for the Leinster Senior Cup which is competed in by League of Ireland sides and by provincial sides alike. The Leinster Football Association also organise several other competitions within the Province such as the Leinster junior Cup, Junior Shield, Youth Cup and more recently the LFA Over Thirty Five Cup and Under Nineteen Cup The LFA was founded in 1892, which makes it the oldest Association in the Republic of Ireland, preceding the FAI by twenty nine years. The Association was formed when clubs broke away from the IFA and the first meeting of the Association was held on 28th October and attended by seven clubs. The Association is predominantly controlled by a Senior Council which is made up of representatives of affiliated leagues in the province. Barney Blood of the United Churches is the current President and will be in Office until June 2016. The day to day running of the Association is under the control of the General Secretary / Provincial Administrator, Peter Doyle who is the Associations only full time employee
