Politics of Marche Political parties Elections |
Lega Nord Marche (English: Northern League Marche) is a regionalist political party in Italy which is the "national" (hence, regional) section of Lega Nord in the Marche region. The current national secretary is Luca Rodolfo Paolini, who was elected deputy in the 2008 general election in Tuscany: it was the first time ever that Lega Nord Marche was represented in the Italian Parliament.
In 2010 the party entered the Regional Council of Marche for the first time with two regional councillors.
Popular support
The party is a tiny one compared to other "national" sections of Lega Nord, but is recently gaining some clout. In the 2010 regional election it won 6.3% of the vote in the region, its best result ever. The party's stronghold was the province of Pesaro and Urbino (9.1%), the northern province which has historically been part of Romagna, but its score was not negliglible in the other provinces: Macerata (7.0%), Ancona (4.9%), Fermo (5.5%) and Ascoli Piceno (4.4%).
