The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (LKCNHM) at the National University of Singapore houses the Raffles Natural History Collection. First Mooted by Sir Stamford Raffles, the collection of South-east Asian biodiversity began in 1849 at the Raffles Museum.

LKCNHM inherited the natural collection from its predecessor, the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research, whose collection was that of the Zoological Reference Collection, which stems from the original Raffles Museum.[1][2]

The Museum currently has about 500,000 items in its collection.[3] About 2000 of these will be on public exhibition.
