Childhood

Chi Hyun-jung has been his coach since 2010.[4] Lee placed 3rd at both Junior Grand Prix Korean trials and Korean Nationals

2011 - 2012

11-12 was Lee's breakthrough season.[5] Lee included 5 different triple jumps in his arsenal and improved jump consistency.[4] He was selected Junior Grand Prix Team Korea by placing 2nd the Korean Trials in August 2011. At Asian Trophy, he placed 2nd at junior discipline. Lee debuted on the Junior Grand Prix series in the 2011–12 season. He placed 4th at his first assigned JGP. However he became the first South Korean male figure skater to medal at an ISU competition when he won bronze at his JGP assignment in Milan, Italy.[6] He won the Korean Ranking competition in November[7] and placed 4th at Winter Youth Olympics. He placed 18th at the World Junior Championships

2012 - 2013

Since his first Junior Grand Prix event, he had kept his previous season's free program, "The Barber of Seville" instead of "Queen medley." He won South Korean Nationals but could not compete at Senior World Championship, because he did not meet up technical minimum score requirement for the event. He placed 13th at the World Junior Championships In February, he landed an triple Axel at the short program of Four Continents Championships in February.

2013 - 2014

In the middle of the season, he changed his Free Program from "The Planets" to "The Phantom of the Opera" for the Korean Nationals. At the Korean Nationals, with over all score 206.88, Lee became the first Korean male skater who scored over 200. In February, He broke his ISU personal best at 2013 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Taipei with overall score 184.14. In March, he placed 16th at the World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

2014 - 2015

Competing on the 2014–15 JGP series, Lee won gold at his first event, JGP France, which made him the first South Korean male figure skater winning at an ISU event.[8] By placing 3rd at JGP Croatia, he qualified for ISU Junior Grand Prix Final for the first time as a Korean male skater.[9] In early December, Lee qualified for the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final in Barcelona, Spain.[10] He placed fifth in the short program and sixth in the free, to place sixth overall.[11]

In January, Lee beat his rival, Kim Jin-seo to win his second national title.[12] He was nominated to the South Korean team for the 2015 Four Continents Championship. He placed fifteenth in the short program and nineteenth in the free skate to place eighteenth overall.[13] He will be competing at the 2015 World Figure Skating Championships.
