Le Rouget is a commune in the Cantal department in south-central France.

Le Rouget will not be found on many 19th century maps, having grown from a hamlet as a result of the railway. It was not granted "commune" status until September 1945[1] (and therefore was able to appoint a mayor), but is now a more important commercial and employment centre than the nearby historic cantonal centres of Saint-Mamet-la-Salvetat or Laroquebrou, although it lacks their architectural and historic interest.

Geography

It is near the ancient Segala area, and within the "Chataignerie."
