Latvian Actuarial Association

The Latvian Actuarial Association (LAA, Latvian: Latvijas Aktuāru asociācija) is the association of actuaries in Latvia. The Association was established in 1997. It is a full member of the International Actuarial Association and the Groupe Consultatif. As of 2008, the Association has about 40 members, 19 of them fully qualified. Current chairman of the Association is Gaida Pettere.

History

The Association was founded on 3 September 1997. It aims to develop actuarial science, education and practice in Latvia.

The Association represents Latvian actuaries in international actuarial bodies. In 2003, it became a full member of the International Actuarial Association, and after the country's accession to the European Union in 2004, the Association has also become a full member of the Groupe Consultatif.
