Lasianthus varians is a species of plant in the Rubiaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
usually small, oval to lanceolate, base acute, margins often rolled down, lateral veins slender.
Trunk
stems much-branched, compressed when young, thickened nodes.
Flowers
white, sessile, small clusters, on short peduncles.
Fruits
black, broadly ovoid berry, with erect tooth-like calyx.
Ecology
montane forest understory.
