Lanterns On The Lake are a five-piece indie rock band from Newcastle-upon-tyne, United Kingdom. The band is composed of Hazel Wilde, Paul Gregory, Oliver Ketteringham and Bob Allan.
History
Lanterns On The Lake formed in 2007.
They self-released two EPs and a single before signing to the Bella Union record label in December 2010.[1] Soon after the band provided a track for Bella Union's Christmas 10" EP along with new label mates Peter Broderick and Phil Selway.[2]
The song I Love You Sleepyhead was used in the film Where Soldiers Come From[3]
The band released their debut album Gracious Tide, Take Me Home on 19 September 2011.[4][5][6] The album was recorded by the band in their homes and produced by the band's guitarist Paul Gregory. The album received mainly positive reviews and received a metacritic rating of 74.[7]
The band's follow up album Until The Colours Run was released on 7 October 2013 in UK and Europe.[8] The album was recorded by the band during a time of financial uncertainty and personal problems.[9] The album received positive reviews, receiving a metacritic rating of 84[10] with many reviewers noting its socio-political undertones.[11] Drowned In Sound declared it "one of the best records of the young decade".[12]
Until The Colours Run was released in North America on 14 January 2014 when the group embarked on their first North American tour.
In November 2014 Lanterns on the Lake announced that they were in the process of writing the follow up album to Until The Colours Run.
The group's material is released in Europe by Bella Union and by PIAS in the USA.

The band have played a host of music festivals including End of the Road Festival, Glastonbury Festival,[13] SXSW, and Bestival.
Lanterns On The Lake have supported Explosions In The Sky on their UK tour including the O2 Academy, Brixton.[14] The band has also toured with Low, including a performance at the Royal Festival Hall in London [15] and with Yann Tiersen, including a performance at The Roundhouse [16]
