Lance McCullers, Jr. (born October 2, 1993) is a professional baseball pitcher for the Lancaster JetHawks of the Houston Astros organization. He attended Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida and was the Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year in 2012.

His father Lance McCullers played in Major League Baseball from 1985 to 1992.[1]

Career

On May 31, 2012 McCullers was named the 2012 Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year.[2] He was signed by the Houston Astros for $2.5 million signing bonus on June 17, 2012 after he was drafted in the 1st round, 41st overall, of the 2012 MLB Draft.

McCullers pitched for the Class A Quad Cities River Bandits for the 2013 season when the River Bandits won the Midwest League championship.

For the 2014 season, he was promoted to the Advanced A Lancaster JetHawks. On April 29, 2014, McCullers and Kyle Smith combined to tie a Lancaster franchise record with 17 strikeouts against the High Desert Mavericks. The JetHawks went on to become the 2014 California League Champions after beating the Northern Division Champion Visalia Rawhide.
