Lana is a female given name and surname. Though its origin is disputed, it can be found in many languages, mostly English speaking countries and Russia,[1] but also Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Ukraine and Belarus.[2] It is also an abbreviated form of the name Svetlana used in Russian, Czech and Bulgarian and Alana in English.[3]

The name Lana is also a very common Kurdish name for girls meaning Nest or Home.
