Lambert High School is a public secondary school located outside the limits of Suwanee, Georgia, in Forsyth County, Georgia a suburb northeast of Atlanta. It is the newest of 5 high schools in the Forsyth County School District.[1] The school is a state of the art facility, with an enrollment of about 2,500 students annually. Most students that attend Lambert reside in southern Forsyth County, an affluent area located near the border of Johns Creek, Ga. The students are drawn from Riverwatch Middle and South Forsyth Middle school.

History

Lambert High School is named after Clarence Lambert.[2] Clarence Lambert was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He received degrees in vocational agriculture from University of Georgia and a masters' degree in school administration from Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University. He served as the first principal of Forsyth County High School which is now called Forsyth Central High School. Mr. Lambert also worked at the Georgia Department of Education as a program coordinator, Assistant Superintendent in charge of facilities at Forsyth County Schools, and as Interim Superintendent of Forsyth County Schools.[3]

Student Data

The students are drawn from Riverwatch Middle School and South Forsyth Middle School. Lambert currently serves grades 9-12.[4]

Academic Competitions

In 2011, Rocketry Team 2 won runner-up in the national Team America Rocketry Challenge with an overall score of 23.[5]

Athletics

Sports teams at Lambert include: Competitive Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Softball, Volleyball, Boys' Basketball, Girls' Basketball, Swimming, Diving, Wrestling, Baseball, Golf, Boys' Lacrosse, Girls' Lacrosse, Boys' Soccer, Girls' Soccer, Boys' Tennis, Girl's Tennis, Track and Field,and Girls' Gymnastics.[6] The school is a member of the Georgia High School Association. It has a live mascot named Louie the Longhorn.[2] Lambert's regional rivals are South Forsyth High School and Johns Creek High School (the latter being located in nearby Fulton County).

In 2010 the Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team had a record of 18-2, losing to Lovett High School in the State Semifinals. The Boys JV Lacrosse team went undefeated, being the first LHS athletic team to do so.

In 2011, the Lambert Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team won the class 4-a state championship, defeating Pope High School 14-7. By doing so, the Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team became the first Lambert athletics team to win a state title.

In 2012, both the Boys Varsity Soccer[7] and Lacrosse[8] won state championships for Region 7-AAAA.

In addition, the wrestling team finished 3rd in the State Tournament in 2012 with two state finalists and two state placers. Also, the team finished 18th in the state in 2013 with one placer and one finalist.
