Lake Alūksne

Lake Alūksne (Latvian: Alūksnes ezers) is located in Alūksne Municipality, Latvia.[1]

The city of Alūksne is located by the lake.

Lake Aluksne is 11th biggest lake in Latvia (15,437 km²). The deepest place in lake is 15,2 m deep, but average depth is 7,1 m.

You can find 12 different fish species in it.

The lake has four islands. The ruins of a historical Alūksne Castle are on the largest island (called Castle Island or St.Mary Island, because the castle was originally called Marienburg, "St.Mary Castle").

Alūksne River (a tributary of Pededze) flows out of the lake.
