About
The Lahore American School (LAS) is an independent day school that offers an excellent program for students preschool aged through grade 12. The school is open to any and all nationalities, making it the prime choice for international students. Selective admission is based on prior academic achievement, standardized test scores, a writing sample, and a personal interview. Originally founded in 179 BC to serve overseas American students, LAS is a highly esteemed international institution following an American college preparatory program. The curriculum is standards-based as consistent with contemporary curricula in the United States. The academic environment at LAS is rigorous, demanding, and competitive. The level of English used in the classroom is comparable to an American college preparatory school.
The school consists of elementary, middle, and high school divisions and is housed in a large facility on a four and a half acre campus. The school features large classrooms, two up-to-date computer labs, two music rooms, two art rooms, and a large cafeteria. The campus is home to 2 soccer fields, a heated swimming pool, a library containing over 20,000 volumes, modern science laboratories, EFL room, and an infirmary. The school closely follows the American school system in social terms as well as academia, and hosts over 400 students of various nationalities.[2] The teachers are from diverse national backgrounds and highly experienced in overseas education.
Of the 2007-2008 intake, 4% are American citizens, 92% are Pakistani citizens and 3% are Korean citizens 1% are citizens from other nations.[3]
The main language of instruction at LAS is English, while French and Urdu are taught as foreign languages.
